I get a lot of questions about working remotely for @ServerpodDev . Here are my top five tips for scoring a job. ☝️ Not just for Serverpod, but any company that hires developers remotely. 1️⃣ Put some effort into your application. A "spray and pray" approach will lead to nothing but disappointment. Employers get hundreds of applications; yours need to stand out. 2️⃣ Craft your cover letter or message for the position. Demonstrate that you understand what the employer is looking for and that you have what it takes. 3️⃣ Build a strong portfolio. Even if you don't have real work experience, you can have things to showcase. Are you a Flutter developer? Build your presentation as a web app. 4️⃣ Applying for a job in an open-source company? Send them a (non-trivial) pull request to show off your skills or share contributions you've made to other projects - no, a spelling correction or formatting fix does not count. 5️⃣ It's great to follow up on your application on LinkedIn, but make sure you are on point and your message is clear. Never start a conversation with a single "Hello, Sir" and wait for a reply. State upfront what you are hoping to achieve with the interaction.
