Witch Hat Atelier manga is about 1/3 done, according to creator Kamome Shirahama. "I would say maybe we are about a third of the way into the story. It's really difficult to say. I will say that we have definitely hit a major turning point with the Silver Eve arc." She also told us that she has the broader strokes of the future story in mind, but not the small details. "That's not something I decided in advance. It's something that newly develops over time as I'm creating the story. So, nothing's really fixed in stone, but I do think about where I’m going to land." The manga began in July 2016, releasing a total of 98 chapters and 16 volumes so far. Season 2 of the anime is currently in production.

Witch Hat Atelier anime director Ayumu Watanabe says there will be more darkness in the anime moving forward, which is why it was important to "show a lot of the bright sides during the first season."

a cloak that won’t hide the arms wouldn’t be a problem for a witch that never leaves the Great Hall. I can only think of this as cutting off a victim from any kind of outside support. If they are stuck in the gh bc of their uniforms, they’re stuck somewhere they can be controlled

(6) Now take a look at Luluci's apprenticr clothes. It's pretty, yes, I can't deny that. But it doesn't seem to be functional for a witch who plans to perform magic for other people. The "cloak" is off shoulder and would barely hide her arms if she performs magic.
