Property taxes. School boards. Insurance rates. The decisions that hit your wallet and your family aren't made in D.C.
State politics isn't background noise. It's the main event. We're here to break it down, no jargon, no spin. Follow Floridian Future.
Inflation squeezes local governments from both sides: revenues shrink while costs climb. @JeffreyBrandes says a 4% inflation rate could feel like 6-7% to a county. Of Pinellas's 24 cities, he sees maybe 18 surviving. Consolidation is coming. 📉
This is not a threat. This is citizenship.

The power has always belonged to the people. Let’s use it. #ContractWithFlorida #FloridaPolitics
What should Floridians expect from the people who want to lead their state? Accountability. Transparency. And a commitment to protecting the freedoms that make Florida home.
🌿 Conservation: Protect Florida’s land and water with independent environmental reviews before hyperscale data center projects are approved.
🏥 Medical Freedom: Keep medical decisions out of government mandates.
💵 Commerce: Protect access to cash for government payments and guard against coercive digital programmable currency.
👨👩👧 Parents & Education: Defend parental rights, curriculum transparency and educational choice.
🔒 Digital Privacy: Demand meaningful warrant protections and safeguards against government surveillance.
These are questions of freedom, accountability and the proper limits of government.
Floridians deserve clear answers before Election Day. Read the commitments. Know where the candidates stand. Decide for yourself.

Most Florida school districts are living paycheck to paycheck.
That’s not our line. It’s from Kate Wallace, Polk County School Board member, explaining the three core jobs of a school board:
Pass a balanced budget every single year
Set the code of conduct for students
Negotiate a collective bargaining contract with the teachers union (and other employee unions) every year, setting pay, benefits and working conditions
The part that should get your attention: the state only expects districts to keep about 2% of operating costs in reserve. Two percent. Polk keeps closer to 5%, which puts it ahead of a lot of districts.
Could your household get by with a 2% cushion?
Do you know how much your county’s school district keeps in reserve? Drop your county in the comments.
This is just a clip. Watch our full conversation with Kate at this link: youtube.com/watch?v=KyxNzkPp…

My message to the FL Dept of Health during the vaccine mandate hearing,
1. Where there is risk, there must be choice. End the mandates.
2. Vaccine injury is real, not rare.
3. The unvaccinated are thriving.
Every swipe costs Main Street. 💵
Small business owners are quietly eating hundreds of thousands of dollars in card fees, money that could be funding jobs, raises, and growth.
Pay with cash and you keep your privacy, keep more of your money local, and keep Florida's small businesses in business.
Support local. Pay cash. 🇺🇸

Give the healthiest and the sickest patient the same treatment and it's called malpractice. When the legislature does it to Florida's well-run cities and counties, it's called policy. 🩺

Can someone explain why data center companies are suddenly so obsessed with building in Florida?
We’re hot and humid. We routinely face drought conditions and water constraints. We get hurricanes. And these facilities can require enormous amounts of electricity and, depending on the cooling system, water.
Yet massive projects keep targeting Florida.
So what exactly makes our state so attractive to them?
Cheap incentives? Fiber access? Available land? Our location? Something else?
Because before Florida starts handing over land, water and power to massive data centers, Floridians deserve to understand exactly why they want to be here, and what we’re getting in return.
JUST IN—Data center lobbyists and a group called “Lake 100” are pushing for a new ordinance to allow data centers throughout Lake County. See the email below. I completely oppose this idea and introduced the current moratorium on data centers in Lake County—the data center industry & “Lake 100” is now attempting to REPLACE that moratorium with an ordinance allowing data centers.
We don’t need data centers in Lake County—we need a total ban
As most other Central Florida local governments have now totally banned or paused data centers, Lake County risks becoming the region’s “data center hub” if this ordinance passes
Speak out NOW. Attend the public hearings, send emails, and demand that this proposal be rejected. Tell them you want a FULL BAN on data centers.
The 1st vote is tomorrow at the Lake County Planning & Zoning committee at 9am—urge the members to vote HELL NO & Protect Lake County’s quality of life.
We recently sat down with former State Senator and founder of the Florida Policy Project, @JeffreyBrandes, to get to the bottom of Amendment 3 and it's implications for local governments throughout the state. A great watch for anyone who is overwhelmed by all of the noise surrounding the issue, Jeff breaks down the research and data behind the push, and paints a picture of the types of budgeting dilemmas local governments may face upon passage. They called it “real tax relief.”
So where are Florida’s leaders?
Guy LaLonde Jr. points out that if Amendment 3 is really as good as advertised, you’d expect the governor and legislators to be fighting for it.
Instead, he asks: Why aren’t they screaming from the rooftops?

Florida's water doesn't just fall from the sky. It rises from below. 💧
The Green Swamp and the Everglades exist nowhere else on Earth, and our aquifer sits on limestone with saltwater pushing against it. It's incredibly sensitive. A rainy day and a flooded backyard don't mean the aquifer is refilling.
Protecting it is how we protect a Floridian future. 🌴

Small businesses are already squeezed by inflation, red tape, and swipe fees eating into their margins. Paying cash at your local farmers market or small shop isn't just convenient, it's a direct way to help Main Street survive without Washington's help.

Amendment 3 is sold as a tax cut. For most of us, especially Florida's renters, it's a tax shift.
A new analysis finds Amendment 3 could "shift more of the property tax burden onto renters." By 2028, the average apartment's property taxes could rise $406 a year, and a rental house's $1,081. That increase is expected to be passed on to tenants. It’s bad for renters, and bad for Florida’s longterm economic growth.
Your landlord won't absorb this tax increase. You will.
Vote NO on Amendment 3.
