Ok here's my self hosted VPN architecture using Amazon EC2 as the endpoint host in either Virginia USA, or Zurich, Switzerland.
Why self host on Amazon?
* Virtually impossible for the UK government to block payments to it without blocking a huge chunk of UK businesses. They could easily block payments to specialist VPN providers
*Good quality internet infrastructure with low latency
* First Amendment protection in the US and strong privacy protection in Switzerland (which is non five eyes)
Wiregard VPN, with the option of switching to Amnesia WG, Shadowsocks or V2Ray if the government mandates deep packet inspection (works in China).

Prime example of why NZ cost of living creeps up daily. Panic due to poor planning and overzealous interference by regulators. Surely the real question should be why was a known slippery product installed in the first place. Completely avoidable cost. And now it'll be ripped out and replaced.
Local govt, NZ boards & execs are shit scared of prosecution under our insane enforcement of health & safety laws.
They won’t accept even reasonable risk anymore, regulators prosecute at the drop of a hat.Result? Knee-jerk panic, mountains of unnecessary cost, and higher bills for all of us. Prime example: Watercare slapping a boil-water notice on 7,500 Auckland homes over a dodgy monitoring tap that turned out to be nothing. One false positive of one indicator out of dozens.

The government wants to wait until shipments are cancelled. Presumably that hasn’t yet occurred. There’s some logic to that given we have finite storage. Although the closer we get to the end game then the more value that conservation efforts would have as they would slow the rate we would run down stocks.
