Just buy a Ryzen+NV gaming laptop. It’s easier to replace in 2-3 years and still possible to sell it. I have stopped my PC builds at RTX3080 and will never put any more $$$ inside. Half of RAM is faulty already, down to 32GB. From my perspective it is a lot harder to sell used PC

Preprint on "BWT construction and search at the terabase scale". We can compress 100 human genomes to 11GB in 21 hours, find SMEMs with it, do affine-gap alignment and retrieve similar local haplotypes. 7.3Tb commonly sequenced bacterial genomes ⇒ 30GB arxiv.org/abs/2409.00613
