as someone whos parents did this growing up, (we called it the halloween fairy) as long all you have to do is give the kid the option. i loved candy but given the choice i would always rather whatever toys the halloween fairy would bring.
🍃@cardamomkissOct 17
Current neurotic parenting thing is the "switch witch" where kids will leave all of their Halloween candy out for the switch witch to come and take it and leave a toy or other reward in its place. Which seems like a very roundabout way of giving your child an eating disorder

i was allowed to eat as much candy as i wanted on halloween and keep 10 pieces afterward. then we would put the pail of candy outside our rooms and in the morning it would be filled with whatever we were brought (always a toothbrush and like a muffin and then a toy or two)

i got a pillowpet one year it was really exciting. i have many issues with how i was raised but the halloween fairy was something that always made me really happy growing up

#TRIGUN might've gotten carried away with the body horror ... inspired by one of my favorite panels from the manga
