Mask-off moments like this actually give me hope. Would be far worse if these people believed they were doing the right thing.

Something shifted inside my head after I read it. Have not been able to think about work without a deep sense of existential dread ever since…

Every now and then the capitalist class makes a freudian slip and reveals just how big of a scam capitalism is:
“I don’t want to sound like Marx but rich people are making a lot of money and everybody else is struggling.”

Every billionaire "started in a garage" story conveniently leaves out the parental loans, elite university connections, and safety nets. Bezos got $300k from his parents. Gates' mom was on IBM's board. Musk's family owned an emerald mine. The garage is aesthetics. The capital is inherited. Stop calling it self-made when it's generationally funded.

Monty is the ultimate success story. He came from humble beginnings…
Never knew his dad. Separated from his birth mother at an early age. Started life with nothing.
Now he owns a house, two cars, and has a personal chef and chauffeur.
Never give up on your dreams.

No single genre of news story annoys me so much as the reframing of gross structural injustice as a “feelgood” story because strangers helped.
Texas delivery driver Don Johnson, 81, works 14-hour days to help pay wife's medical bills - strangers raise almost $250K trib.al/iOH2hYR
