Last night I was the moderator for Q&A at the action block of the 22nd annual Hollyshorts film festival. The films were all great! Was so impressed! Also, thank you to Eryn Rea for coordinating the evening, and to the festival for having me! I’ll be there today for 2 more blocks.

“No sex scenes.” Sorry to say that we gave up on any kind of fucking in a Nolan movie at least two decades ago.

The good guys won. I interviewed David Borenstein for the pod in December and it was clear MR. NOBODY AGAINST PUTIN was one of the best docs of the year.
Glad a guy like David won. Watch/Listen: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…

The film industry is funny:
Imagine the backlash there would be if the musician who won best album at the Grammys got to the microphone and said they aren’t paid enough by the industry to afford children.
Sean Baker did exactly that at the Oscars a year ago and nothing happened.

You can have the biggest success story at the indie box office this century -- arguably -- and there will always be somebody:
well, akshually
it's exhausting.
it's okay to just cheer somebody's achievement.

One day I wanna have a conversation about how black lead/directed film, need to stop doing marketing in New York & LA because that is no longer where their audience is. If you’re a black film and you wanna make money, you need to go to the American South.

Ongoing thread of underrated California locations for independent films to shoot their movies. Gonna do cities and maybe even narrow it down to singular locations and neighborhoods eventually. Will update as I go. If you have any suggestions let me know! ⬇️🧵

“If people won’t read 5,000-word investigations, maybe they’ll watch a film about it.”
