Excessive Heat Warning! ⚠️
Yes, the desert gets hot in the summer. But this heat will be well-above-average for many days & temps will not adequately cool overnight to give the body proper recovery.
This level of heat is dangerous and prolonged.

ALT Excessive Heat Warning for Wednesday through Monday for western San Bernardino County, lower elevations of western Clark County, and lower elevations of Inyo County... Thursday through Monday for Esmeralda, southern Nye, southern Mohave, the remainder of San Bernardino, and eastern Clark County. Hydrate and avoid activity during the hottest parts of the day. Do not leave children or pets in a car unattended. A vehicle without AC will reach lethal temperatures.

With or without an Excessive Heat Warning, the Mojave Desert gets very hot in the summer.
Temperatures inside a vehicle become lethal quickly.
Quick stop at the store? Leave your pet at home or leave the AC on. Cracked windows aren't enough with temps over 110.

⚠️IMPORTANT: Leaving an animal in a vehicle for ANY length of time in this heat is not acceptable, even if the vehicle is in the shade or a parking structure.
DID YOU KNOW⁉️: Endangering the health or well-being of such animal due to heat, cold, lack of food or water, or anything that could cause suffering or death violates County code and can lead to criminal prosecution.
During the summer months, it’s BEST to leave your pets at HOME. 🐶😺
Let’s work together to keep our pets safe. If the public sees an animal left in a vehicle, please follow the steps below. 👇
