The Consulate General of Ireland in New York was proud to host a kick-off reception for #FergusWalks on Friday ahead of Fergus Farrell’s 3,000-mile journey across the United States to raise awareness of spinal cord injuries and the need for continued research.
After sustaining a spinal cord injury in 2018 and being told he had just a 5% chance of ever walking again, Fergus defied the odds to regain his mobility and has since completed a series of extraordinary endurance challenges. We were delighted to be joined by the team from @SpinalIreland, who, alongside the Christopher & Dana @ReeveFoundation, are supporting Fergus on this remarkable trek.
On Saturday, Deputy Consul General Katie Daughen joined members of New York’s Irish community on Brooklyn Bridge to accompany Fergus as he began his walk. Best of luck to Fergus as he continues his journey!
