When Ron Weasley looks in the Mirror of Erised, he sees three things: 1. He’s Head Boy 2. He’s holding the House Cup 3. He’s Quidditch captain and holding the Quidditch Cup Ron’s house wins the House Cup in the very first book. Ron is named a Prefect in the fifth book (and may have gone on to be named Head Boy had he not left school to aid his friends in chasing Horcruxes). He also doesn’t become Quidditch captain, but he does become his team’s hero in the sixth book (after mistakenly believing he had taken Felix Felicis). This goes to show that the “deepest, most desperate desire[s] of [Ron’s] heart” were all things he could have achieved on his own merits. It’s only Ron’s lack of belief in himself that gets in his way.
