I sent someone a Calendly link yesterday as I figured it was the easiest way they could book in a time that works for them 😬

It's new job day! I've got my new laptop (MacBook Air) and a fancy new title (Director of Engineering, Culture & Academy) and I'm so excited to get started 🥳

So great to see Welsh doing consistently strong numbers with language learners. I really want to get back into it and hopefully unlock what’s left of my A Level Welsh knowledge that might still be tucked away in my brain somewhere. I’d love to become fluent

Still quite a bit of work to do on this one but I now have the basics of a driving game. Planning and building the track takes a lot longer than I thought it would! At the moment, if you hit the barrier, you have to start again
Got it! Using concepts I already used earlier in the game plus a bit of guess work and reading of the docs, I can reset the tower to keep knocking it down over and over

And here it is running on my phone. Really impressed so far with the course and with Unity as a framework for building. Going to see if I can figure out how to add a few features to this before I move on with the course. First up, can I figure out how to reset the tower?

First step, getting familiar with the basic controls of Unity scenes. Already quite fun and I haven't even written any code yet.

Cosy Sunday reading with the dog on my feet. Recapping this book in preparation for some upcoming meetings. Genuinely can’t recommend this book enough if you’re working with technology teams.

Some new reading courtesy of @panedoge. Definitely recommend popping into @thequeeremporiu for a browse if you’re in Cardiff
The Werk Room is really paying off already today. Have an all day work event being done via Zoom webinar so I’m on the sofa, recliner up, casting my iPad to the TV to watch the webinar

This was after I finished building furniture last night

Ah the Game Boy. So many hours spent on this. Such an iconic handheld console with so many great games. And the likely cause of the surely inevitable future arthritis in my thumbs (definitely nothing to do with the subsequent years of phone use 😄)
I’d played Paperboy and Oh Mummy on a ZX Spectrum+2 before but I really credit the NES with sparking my love of games. My cousin had it and I vividly remember playing Super Mario and Excitebike. But my standout memory is definitely playing Duck Hunt with the light gun 💙

I love the Game & Watch series from Nintendo. Simple technology used in a really clever way. Also looking back now, they were an obvious inspiration for the design of the DS consoles
