#NewsXchange panel on climate. @wblau: to cover the climate crisis journalism needs to look farther into the future than it ever has before
At #cjs2023 I am inspired by the number of university-led student reporting programmes here in the US. These collaborations are just awesome and I would love to see this start to become possible in the UK and Europe.
We often approach academic institutions, sometimes with funding in place for projects but it is so hard to get anything happening for any number of reasons. Timelines are always an issue but a general infrastructure for partnerships is equally challenging. #cjs2023
🌱 I'm also at #cjs2023 to talk to newsrooms who might be interested in becoming @climatexc collaborators. You can see what we are doing here: youtube.com/watch?v=SWQx-qeC…
If you are at #cjs2023 I would love to talk to you about @fathmco and our work supporting news orgs with impact measurement and also the Journalism Design Sprints developed out of many collaborative projects including @electionland, @PopupNews & @VerificadoMX

Why is there nothing about the impact of private jet use on the climate?
I don't often call out our own but The Guardian's climate pledge reads: "We will continue our longstanding record of powerful environmental reporting, known around the world for its quality & independence."
James Cleverly’s use of private jet described as ‘ludicrous extravagance’ theguardian.com/politics/202…

Goodbye Perugia! Huge thanks to @journalismfest for an amazing week, and to all the speakers and participants who made #IJF23 such an energizing and enriching event

Really interesting case in point relevant to the “Why are we covering climate as a niche?” discussion at #IJF23. @DailyMirror story on Marcus Rashford hiring a private jet to fly to NYC for the weekend - no mention of environmental cost. (1/)
