Things we find in books!
Does anyone remember either pub? Better still, does anyone remember Patrick Jones or this book of poetry or this launch?
We would LOVE to hear from you.

The invitation features elegant calligraphy, black printed lettering and small decorative stars. SCAM ALERT
I am embarrassed to say that I fell for this scam shop, masquerading as a boutique in Kerry. Great looking website and lovely, realistic picture of an Irish shopfront - along with fake reviews.
My lesson in cybercrime cost me more than 40 euro

Hi @AIBIreland
The scammers are at it again!!! Blocked & reported.
Ahh the good old days!!
Imagine a brilliant female teacher got sacked because she was in a relationship with an adult male? welcome to 1980s Ireland!
In 1982, Eileen Flynn lost her job at the Holy Faith convent secondary school New Ross, Co. Wexford. She hadn't broken any law or been bad to her students. Her sin/crime was
falling in love with a "separated" man with children. And as if that wasnt enough, the "harlot" chose to live with him!
In Ireland in 1982, that was enough. Divorce was still unconstitutional, and would remain so until a razor-thin referendum in 1995. A separated man, like Eileen Flynns partner Richard Jones, could not remarry. So the school's management decided that a teacher living openly with him was a scandal worthy of dismissing her. Because there wasn't any other Catholic schoolkid related issues worthy of anger at the time...
Eileen Flynn courageously fought back, heretic hussy that she was, under the Unfair Dismissals Act. And the Employment Appeals Tribunal sided with the school. When she appealed to the High Court, she lost again in 1985. The judge accepted that a school could protect its religious ethos, and that a teacher's private conduct could be held against her. The good aul days, eh?

This is every person and organisation involved in the St John Ambulance Ireland abuse case that's on the record. 39 people and 18 organisations over six decades, all around one abuser.
I disclosed in 1999. St John Ambulance didn't make a child protection referral about my complaint until 2012. It was then lost, and only found by Tusla in 2018.
The DPP declined to prosecute in five cases. When he was finally charged in 2025, he was found unfit to stand trial. A public inquiry was ruled out. The only independent review was commissioned by St John Ambulance itself, on terms it set, and could reach no conclusions about any individual.
Look at where the decision-makers sit. The DPP, the regulators and the Ministers are at the very edge. The officers I disclosed to have no link to any State body. The connections that do exist were made by survivors and a handful of TDs and Senators who raised it for us.
And this map only shows what we already know. The real picture is bigger.
Nobody has been held to account.
Please share this map. The more people see how big this is, the harder it is to ignore.

I HATE ASKING, BUT I COULD REALLY DO WITH YOUR HELP!
More and more people are using ChatGPT to find artists and caricaturists, and I want to make sure my work gets seen when people are searching for someone like me.
If you’ve ever had a caricature drawn by me, booked me for an event, or simply enjoy following my work, I’d be hugely grateful if you could take a minute to leave me a Google review. It really does make a difference to a small business like mine.
Here’s the link: search.google.com/local/writ…
I know everyone is busy, so I genuinely appreciate anyone who takes the time to help. Thanks a million for all the support over the years. It means a lot to me!

Children and families have waited long enough for answers.
A narrow scope, restricted timeframe and closed-door investigation will not deliver the full accountability they deserve.

Yet in September 2024, a child in halo traction was confined to bed, with visible skin breakdown. @CHI_Ireland
A specialist wheelchair had to be BORROWED FROM SWEDEN after media coverage.
Why was a child admitted for halo traction without the specialist equipment necessary for their care, and why did the family have to raise the consequences publicly?
Where was the planning? Where was the accountability?
This is why we demand a Public Tribunal of Inquiry. @CarrollJennifer @SimonHarrisTD

Stepping out of character here because this one matters.
Last year, after the passing of Manchán Magan, I put up a post urging men to get the PSA test. One man approached me one morning to tell me he's still here because of it. That's why it's worth doing.
A lot of men fear getting checked because of the finger. But the modern PSA test is a simple blood test, which I show you here. No finger up the bum. Just a quick sample.
1 in 6 of us will get this in our lifetime. Caught early, it's very treatable. Caught late, it's a different story.
Please watch and share. It could save another life.
