Yesterday a guy told me his sister wants to be friends with me, so I asked him what’s her profession and where she lives and he said she’s a beautician who works from their family house (ie) nail tech, lash tech and makeup artist who works from home. I told him no, I can’t be friends with her and he asked why and I told him the simple truth; I don’t make friends with people who are more likely to become liabilities in my life, than be helpful to me. What am I supposed to do with a lash tech who lives in her parents house? Before you know it she will start billing me for everything as a friend because “you be big lawyer nau”. My friends are people who can be productive and we can both mutually benefit from each other. Eg my doctor friends and I exchange legal and medical services for each other and recommendations. My lawyer friends, I don’t even need to say it. We share briefs, share clients, help each other with cases etc. My friends in different forces (NPF, Army, Airforce, Navy etc), we help each other professionally. Heck even my chef friends, I don ever run free legal services and she paid by cooking a weeks worth of food for me to store in my fridge.
