Our problem is not Netanyahu alone, even if he is the worst leader in Israel’s history. (Israel ) does not act in isolation. It enjoys the backing of a wider Zionist movement and powerful political allies who could have used their influence to stop the genocide in Gaza. They could have pressed Netanyahu and Israel’s leadership to change course before destroying the carefully manufactured image they had spent nearly eighty years promoting.
These supporters have considerable political, diplomatic and institutional influence in some of the world’s most powerful countries. They have tools to protect what they consider their interests and Israel’s future—and to exert pressure to stop the genocide.
Yet that pressure never materialised in any meaningful way. This suggests a willingness to embrace a different Israel: one that asserts its power through brutality and domination, disregards public opinion and international institutions, and pursues ever more extreme political and military policies.
Whether Netanyahu wins, Eisenkot takes his place, or even the most liberal, left-wing contender comes to power, Israel cannot simply recover its former image. Any successor will face powerful incentives to continue along the same path. A meaningful change would require confronting international accountability, reviving a genuine political process and, before anything else, acknowledging the immense crime committed in Gaza and accepting its consequences at home and abroad.
Yet some Arab and Palestinian politicians and commentators continue to suggest that Netanyahu’s electoral defeat would, in itself, be good news: the beginning of a solution and an improvement in Palestinian lives.
Even an opposition advantage in the polls would not guarantee that outcome. It could produce another political deadlock, with neither camp able to form a government. Netanyahu could remain in office as caretaker prime minister pending another election. Alternatively, a unity government could give him the first two years of a rotating premiership.
In my view, Trump’s talk of allowing Netanyahu to “finish the job” points to something far beyond Gaza: consolidating Israeli dominance across the region. That ambition extends well beyond Netanyahu and his immediate allies.
So our message to politicians and analysts is this: stop selling false hope. Demand that our leaders prepare for worse.
What began in Gaza has exposed what the international system is prepared to tolerate—and how little it can do to stop or punish perpetrators when they possess overwhelming power and powerful protection. Once that impunity is accepted, what meaningful barrier remains against still greater atrocities, even the unthinkable prospect of genocide through nuclear weapons?
Our nations and peoples need to wake up and prepare to confront Israel’s expansionist policies and encroachment on Arab territory. Its influence has already penetrated the calculations of leaders and political elites, drawing them into a world of evasion and deception marketed as cooperation, normalisation and the Abraham Accords.
A change of government in Israel is no substitute for justice, accountability or a change in the balance of power. Our future cannot depend on who wins its next election.

“Don't wait for the election results!
Our problem isn't with the person Netanyahu, even though he is the worst in the history of the entity, and yet this entity does not move independently but enjoys full patronage from the global Zionist movement, and those people could have, if they wanted, prevented the genocide in Gaza and directed Netanyahu and the entity's leaders to act in a way that does not destroy the false image of the entity that they have tried to market for eighty years.
These people possess many tools that enable them to define their interests and the entity's interests and future, and they are deeply embedded in the world's most powerful countries and institutions, capable of influencing their decisions and thus exerting pressure if necessary to stop the genocide.
But none of that happened, suggesting that they have shifted the entity to a new zone or image, one of brutality and domination by force, indifference to public opinion, the positions of countries and institutions, and resorting to the utmost levels of extremism and political and military radicalism.
And whether Netanyahu wins or Eizenkot or even if the most liberal and left-wing candidate wins, the entity will not be able to return to its previous image, and the new winner will have to continue the same path, realizing that the alternative is being dragged through international courts or returning to reviving the political path—but more than that, and before all else, acknowledging the great crime, which is the crime of genocide, and preparing to bear its cost internally and externally.
Some analysts and some Arab and Palestinian politicians are trying to offer hope that Netanyahu's defeat in the elections will be good news and the beginning of a solution and an improvement in the situation.
And in any case, opinion polls still give a slight—non-decisive—edge to the opposition camp led by Eizenkot, but that could lead to a state of political paralysis and the inability of either side to form a government, which means the continuation of Netanyahu's caretaker government until new elections or the formation of a unity government starting with Netanyahu as prime minister for two years (which is what Trump wants to complete the mission, as he said), and I believe the intended mission in the end is to enable the entity to control the entire region. And that is a goal on which all Israelis agree.
Therefore, we say to the analysts and politicians: stop selling illusions and demand that our leaders prepare for the worst, for what began in Gaza was a model for what the global system can allow and cannot prevent or punish its perpetrators if they possess overwhelming power and the ability to commit the most horrific crimes, even if it is genocide with nuclear bombs.
What our nation and its peoples need is to wake up and prepare to confront the entity's expansionist plans and its spread in Arab geography after it has infiltrated the minds of leaders and political elites and dragged them into the space of evasion and deception under the banner of cooperation and normalization and the Abraham Accords.
