STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE PRESIDENT TINUBU INAUGURATES PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN COUNCIL, EMPHASISES READINESS TO RENEW COVENANT WITH NIGERIANS President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), declaring that the party is ready and united to renew its covenant with Nigerians ahead of the 2027 presidential election. At the ceremony at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, President Tinubu charged council members and party leaders to demonstrate unity, commitment, and dedication as they prepare for the campaign, while keeping the administration’s governance priorities firmly on track. The President expressed confidence in the PCC and the party's ability to work together toward its objectives, stressing that unity, discipline, and a shared sense of purpose would be essential to the task ahead. " As I stand before you with a heart full of gratitude and spirit full of resolve, it is my honour to inaugurate the presidential campaign council of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 General Election. I thank all of you for the last election, but no one gets credit for an incomplete assignment until you deliver the next election, until you deliver your electoral wards, until you deliver the votes," he said. The President also acknowledged the advice of the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who counselled him not to let the rigours of the election campaign distract him from his responsibilities of governance. In his speech, Uzodimma assured the President that the governors and other party leaders would do their best to deliver the right message to Nigerians during the campaign. President Tinubu said the advice was timely, noting that while the PCC-APC would intensify its political mobilisation, his administration remained committed to delivering on its promises and addressing the needs and aspirations of Nigerians. “However, I will still make time to speak directly with Nigerians even as you lead the campaign in the states and local government areas. We have bills to pay. The American creditors cannot wait. We want those investors to come in and invest for the future of our children," the President said. President Tinubu called on members of the campaign council to conduct their activities responsibly, engage Nigerians constructively, and highlight the administration's policies and programmes under the Renewed Hope Agenda. The President also commended Vice President Kashim Shettima for his oratory and patriotic approach to national development, calling his speech excellent. He commended Lagos State Governor Babajide Samwo-Olu and his Deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, for their contributions to the success he recorded during his term as governor of the state, especially in taming the encroachment by the Atlantic Ocean. "There is a limit, but there is no limit in daring. We dared the Atlantic Ocean, and the result is the Atlantic City in Lagos", he said. Vice President Kashim Shettima earlier commended the President's courage and conviction in deepening democracy in the country. He cited the President's support for former Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, in 2007 to contest the Presidency on the platform of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). The Vice President berated the former Vice President Atiku for belittling the office of the President. " You can call him Bola, if you like, call him Adekunle, but he is the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria," Shettima said. Shettima also slammed National Democratic Movement presidential candidate Peter Obi for peddling bogus statistics and often comparing Nigeria with other countries without context. Peter Obi should not only congratulate the Ghanaian President-elect, John Mahama. More importantly, he should learn from Mahamudu Bawumia, who came second in the Presidential election, and Nana Kwame Bediako, who came third. The election was held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, and the Ghana Electoral Commission has still not officially released the results. Yet, both Mr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Nana Kwame Bediako officially conceded defeat yesterday, Sunday, December 8, 2024. That is a teachable moment for Peter Obi, a candidate who came a distant third in the #NigerianElections2023, yet refused to concede that he lost and like a typical cult leader, continued to feed his followers that he won the election, not the declared winner, or the first runner up. How a third place finisher could have defeated both the front runner and his immediate opponent was never explained by Mr. Obi. And when he got to the court, even his own petition did not claim he won. Rather, he petitioned that the winner, President Tinubu, should be disqualified for being ineligible to contest. Today, he congratulates Mr. John Mahama, who has not yet been officially declared but is now accepted as the President-elect because his closest challengers conceded. What a lesson for Nigeria in general and Peter Obi in particular. In Ghana, losers concede graciously. In Nigeria, they go on TV, rub mentholatum on their eyes, and shed crocodile tears. Dear Peter Obi, I think that arrest for alleged defamation and libel is an overkill. In such circumstances, the defamer or libellous person should be sued in court. Except this is a case of criminal defamation or slander. Then, the arrest is in order. Having said that, I do recall that during your tenure as Governor of Anambra, Nasir el-Rufai visited your state and was unlawfully detained on your orders, according to him and those in the know. You were the Governor and chief security officer of the state. The buck stopped at your desk. The arrest was brought to your attention. You had a personal grudge against Mr. El-Rufai and misused your powers. You did nothing to free Nasir El-Rufai. Not only did you not take any remedial action in 2013 when Mr. El-Rufai was arrested, but you also did not call it a "gross misuse" of powers. My question to you is this: how are you better than those you are now accusing? In any case, I join my voice with yours to call for the release of Mr. Farotimi, just as the British authorities also released you after your detention at London's Heathrow Airport. If Archbishop Chukwuma feels this way, then what does he want the family of Brigadier Ademulegun to say? Mrs. Latifah Ademulegun was married to Brigadier Samuel Ademulegun. She was eight months pregnant when, on the night of January 15, 1966, Major Timothy Onwuatuegwu stormed into her matrimonial bedroom to kill her husband. She got up from the bed and, stood in front of her husband, and refused to move. Major Onwuatuegwu then gunned down both her and her husband. Their two underaged children, Solape and Kole, ran into the room and began to cry at the trauma of seeing both their parents' bloodstained bodies. They never recovered from the shock. What about the family of Sardauna? What should they say? Just a little over thirty minutes before, Hafsatu Bello, Sir Ahmadu Bello's first wife, did the same thing. She planted herself in front of her husband as a human shield, thinking that that would stop Major Chukwuma Nzeogwu. But that was not to be. Nzeogwu gunned down both her and her husband. What about the family of Colonel Kur Mohammed? The manner in which Major Chris Anuforo killed Lt. Colonel Kur Mohammed was particularly evil. Kur Mohammed did not resist or beg for his life. Rather, he started praying without asking for permission, at which point Anuforo rained bullets on his back. Some people believe they were just sitting down minding their business, and Hausa people came to fight them (all Northerners are Hausa to some people) because they hate them. There was absolutely no provocation, or igniting events that preceded the Nigerian Civil War. Hausa people just woke up on the wrong side of the bed and, for some strange reason, decided to pounce on the people of Eastern Nigeria. But, of course, that is not what happened. However, because we do not write our history, and even worse, we have refused to teach it in our schools, millions of people believe this version of events. In fact, they swear by it. The truth is that if the January 15, 1966 coup had never happened, it is most unlikely that the Nigerian Civil War would have occurred. The perpetrators of that coup opened a Pandora’s Box that the rest of Nigeria is still suffering from today! There was wild jubilation all over Nigeria after that coup, because Nigerians believed it was a patriotic and nationalistic coup. Then the names of those killed were announced over the radio, and it was discovered that only people from the North, West and Midwest were killed. Out of 21 people killed by the January 15, 1966 coup plotters, only Lt. Colonel Arthur Unegbe was an Igbo, and the reason he was killed was because he was the QuarterMaster-General, Army Headquarters, Lagos, and therefore was in charge of the armoury. If Major General Ironsi had punished the January 15, 1966 plotters as promised, there would not have been the counter-coup and the civil war. The core Northern officers were pacified to an extent after Major General Aguiyi-Ironsi promised them he would try the January 15, 1966 coup plotters. Unfortunately, Aguiyi-Ironsi did not try them. Maybe he planned to do so later on, but up until July, he had not. Then word got out that those arrested, including the most brutal of them, Major Chris Anuforo, were still receiving salaries in prison and, worse, were scheduled to be promoted. That riled the Northern officers. Additionally, Igbos in the North were accused of mocking the late Sardauna, Ahmadu Bello. Some people had printed almanacks of his face on a goat's body. Others had made posters of Major Nzeogwu as Angel Michael, with his sword drawn and his leg on the head of satan, who was depicted as the Sardauna. During the last election, some people repeated these same vile behaviours. To add salt to injury, amusician named Celestine Ukwu released a song in Igbo titled Ewu Ne Ba Akwa, meaning ‘the goat is crying’, which Northerners felt mocked the Sardauna. The Archbishop should consider this before making statements that reopen old wounds.

Google it. Mr. Ibu set up a fundraiser for Peter Obi when he was healthy. Billions of Naira were raised from that fundraiser. The least Peter Obi can do is use some of the billions raised from that fundraiser to help Mr. Ibu now that he has health challenges. This is not a matter of insult from you, Obidients. First, get Peter Obi to donate. You can insult me later! #TableShaker

BREAKING: Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted a request to the Supreme Court, urging the dismissal of the appeal filed by Atiku Abubakar and H.E Peter Obi, who are contesting the outcome of the February 25 Presidential election, which was characterized by rigging, intimidations, vote buying, late arrival of election materials and disenfranchisement. Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu maintained that the appellants failed to substantiate their allegations and arguments presented at the tribunal that the election was rigged in his favour. Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu asserted that the tribunal's decision, which upheld his election, was correct and legally sound. Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu urged the Supreme Court to affirm the lower court's decision and dismiss the appeal entirely brought before it by Atiku Abubakar and H.E Peter Obi including his certificate saga.
