Today we are announcing our biggest bet yet on our own silicon.
Starting next calendar year, we will scale our Maia family to multi-gigawatt deployments, making it the primary inference system for our own product and services.
And we’re introducing Maia 300, which delivers 40% more tokens per watt compared to leading GPU-based systems.
We are already deploying Maia 200 across the US, Europe, and Australia, delivering up to 1.7x more tokens per watt across experiences in Teams and Copilot.
Our goal is to build on the full-stack efficiency gains we’ve already seen, while continuing to bring the latest innovations from across the ecosystem into our fleet.
Microsoft has launched a new container system for AI agents across Windows, Linux and macOS.
It’s called Microsoft Execution Containers, or MXC, and it lets developers control which files, networks and system resources an agent can access.
An agent can edit your project and run its tools while being blocked from personal files or changing configurations it only needs to read.
These restrictions are enforced outside the agent’s control, so it can’t grant itself extra permissions.
MXC uses platform-specific sandboxes, including Bubblewrap on Linux, through a unified JSON configuration and SDK.
GitHub Copilot, OpenAI Codex, Replit and OpenClaw already support it, with Claude Code support planned.

Satya is right. The way to make SI safe is not to train it with a sense of self, its own moral philosophy, and permission to act as a conscientious objector. That’s the “alignment” approach and it magnifies the control problem.
The engineering approach that Satya describes is different: separate the supply of intelligence from authority over it. Surround non-deterministic models with deterministic controls, observability, privilege limits, logging, and the ability to always contain or shut them down. Treat models/agents like powerful insider risks, not moral patients whose psychological wellbeing is at stake.
As Satya points out, the most trustworthy system is the one that lets us trust the model the least — not the one that encourages the model to develop independent agency and grievances. Engineering safety is not the same thing as “alignment.”

Introducing Microsoft-Decision-1, our new model for fast decision-making.
It delivers top performance on structured decision tasks, outperforming both LLMs and other decision models in latency and quality.
We’re already testing it across Microsoft for everything from incident response and quality control to scientific discovery.
