This is my little Pebbles. She seemed perfectly fine in the morning, but out of nowhere, she suddenly had terrible diarrhea. I followed the vet's advice and tried feeding her rice, but that led to her becoming sick as well. Eventually, she stopped eating and drinking altogether After some blood tests, the results shocked me: her pancreas and kidneys were failing, and the vet suspected there might be a mass on her bladder. I never thought I would leave the vet without her. Making the heartbreaking decision to let her go, Pebbles fell asleep in my arms on May 20, 2023. Tomorrow would have been her 16th birthday (June 8). Her bowls remain in the kitchen, and I haven’t vacuumed downstairs—her hairs are still scattered on the floor. Her bed is still in her little room under the stairs, and I continue to take her blanket and teddy bear to bed with me. I had her since she was just 8 weeks old; she was like my child, and I loved her with all my heart. When I saw her at the chapel of rest, she looked so peaceful. I've brought her ashes home and light a candle for her every day. I miss my little Pebbles so much. She brought me stability and unconditional love; she was truly my best friend. At a small hospital in Alaska, Martha had been in labor for nearly 15 hours when nurses noticed something unusual happening outside her window.
