6-yr old shoots their 1st grade teacher in VA yesterday. Using the Historical Figures app, I shared the WaPo story about this tragedy with an AI simulation of George Washington to get his take. Here is what he said.

Take it however you want. The left will say “see! unfettered access to all guns is not what was intended!” The right will say “tech is biased against the 2nd amendment” I’m not here to convince anybody. If you want to stay in your tribal corners, that’s your choice.

How is it possible that I’m in the top 0.1% of listeners to @SaidTheSky this year according to Spotify???? Sentiment is **SUCH** a phenomenal album, it’s hard to believe my 2,126 minutes listened is so close to the top.

I'm not a VC but I find this take ridiculous. Hype is literally what causes many public companies to have astronomical valuations. When the public stops chasing hype, SV will follow. In the meantime, hype will absolutely, unequivocally drive investing decisions in SV.

If Bird goes bust, I hope Silicon Valley reflects on how hype, momentum, and cult of personality drive investing decisions. I hope they look at Bird and wonder, what if some of that money went to local transit systems? To existing public infrastructure? To more diverse founders?

The public won't stop chasing hype because of greed. Greed is a part of human nature. Humans have tried to tame their greedy nature to no avail. Given that's not changing on a macro level any time soon, neither will SV investing decisions.

Human nature leads to greed. Greed leads to the public chasing hype. The public chasing hype drives SV investing decisions. Ergo, SV investing decisions won't change because of Bird. Give me a break.

I participated in this. Great summary of what SMB business leaders are experiencing right now. I hope @tsludwig is able to do this consistently.
Are you interested in what people in the SMB community are experiencing in their businesses and the economy right now? I interviewed over 40 people, collected and summarized their best takes, and wrote-up the results along with an analysis of the key themes.

Also, love this quote: "The SMB market is largely defined by real people living off of the real value they create by solving real problems for real customers. That’s why I love it. There’s no BS in working every day to create stable jobs, making a high-quality product, and ..."
