I think part of the reason BEATBREAK was received so poorly in China is simply that the anime market here has changed a lot.
Digimon isn't just competing with other kids' shows anymore.
It's competing for people's time with:
β countless 12β13 episode anime
β high-quality anime-style games
β short-form entertainment everywhere
For many younger Chinese viewers, following nearly 50 episodes is already a big commitment, especially if the story takes a long time to really get going.
That's why I personally think Digimon should try focusing more on shorter, higher-quality seasonal anime instead of another year-long series.

Interestingly, Chiaki J. Konaka once said that if his Digimon Tamers sequel were animated, he'd prefer:
β 13 episodes
β one cour
β late-night anime
I strongly agree with that approach.

GQuuuuuuX is the kind of approach I have in mind.
I'm not saying Digimon should copy Gundam, or that GQuuuuuuX was a perfect show.
What I mean is:
β a one-cour series
β production quality at that level
β a story paced to keep people interested from week to week
Put the resources into making those 12β13 episodes really stand out.
A shorter series doesn't automatically mean a better series. If you make it shorter but keep the same production quality and slow pacing, nothing is really solved.
What I want to see is Digimon making fewer episodes, but making each episode feel more worth watching.
Something that can compete for people's attention in today's anime market and make new audiences curious about Digimon again.

like y'all be talking like the intent of filler was to give us more character interactions and improve their dynamics or whatever NOOOOOOOOOOO all it was doing was to keep the anime from passing the manga. everything else is a byproduct.
