What is it with Source Control Clients that don't show progress of whatever it is downloading, uploading, etc.? I'm sitting here wondering if the Engine I'm cloning is 10% or 90% there.

15 minutes later, I'm sure it's not at 10% anymore. I guess it's too difficult in 2025 to figure out the size of what is being downloaded and how much already has been. Especially when syncing a repo file by file.

Lots of interesting opinions. It seems like nothing much changed though: - The generated Code is usually bad - Need to be experienced to filter through generated answers - AI often gets in the way and doesn't help - The chat features seem useless - Multiline worse than Singeline
Does anyone here actually use any AI that assists during programming (UE and non-UE)? @JetBrainsRider "1-line AI" is "okay" for auto-completing some stuff. I looked at Copilot, but the pricing and feeling of it more or less providing other people's code is putting me off.

It's a bit of a shame how the whole AI stuff developed. It could be helpful but seems to be largely stuck on its current level of quality, not only related to generating code. And one can't forget what most of those are trained with... :/

And I don't need an AI that provides me with answers. I can figure things out myself. I'm mostly interested in assistance to remove some boilerplate-like coding tasks. "Smart Snippets" I guess? I don't need a ChatGPT thing.

I think @JetBrainsRider changed the "Generate Definitions" default behavior. Declarations are now selected by default. That's great, as it speeds things up! If only my muscle memory wouldn't cause me to deselect them all instantly again. 🥲

I'm relaaaatively sure that this is due to cat hair getting stuck in the wheel or so. I'm not sure how that would affect the button press and I can still hear the "click", but well. Might as well open it up at some point and check if it's just a contact that can be fixed.
The MMB of my Razer Deathadder is giving up. Works like 1 out of 100 times. Makes me painfully aware of how often I use that button to open and close tabs and windows 🥲

To get back into Custom #UE Editor stuff, especially Asset Editors with fully custom Nodes, I will probably try to recreate this visual Regex Editor. Ultimately, I want to create a simple, extendable, DungeonGen Plugin, that uses such an Editor to define Generation Rules.

Haven't put too much thought into the DungeonGen stuff yet. It will probably be heavily Interface-based and only have one Implementation for a Zelda-like Key-Lock-Switch Puzzle Dungeon. Will need to prototype the idea that DungeonGen is for first though.

UE's Node-based Asset Editors can be used for so much cool stuff. @CatherineCel built one for Ped/Traffic simulations in the past, so Designers could easily set up the flow of such simulations, without needing to fight 42 layers of nested Structs.
