Found so many stories like this one when researching my first book, most now buried by history. But I can’t get over the detail in here that in 1970, a Boston judge ruled that being embarrassed by an unarmed black guy was legal justification for a cop to kill that black guy.
This week, my daughter is among the peaceful protesters seeking justice for George Floyd. Today, I'm telling her about Frank Lynch, a young black soul singer who was murdered by Boston police in 1970, and how Boston's black community invented a new idea for protesting injustice.

This is an incredible story. Whistleblower cop made recordings of superiors, colleagues framing innocent people. DA was made aware, but continued peosecuting cases. Only person punished was the whistleblower.
NEW: In secret recordings, police officers in Mount Vernon, NY say their colleagues framed innocent people again and again. The @WestchesterDA got these tapes last year but kept prosecuting people—without disclosing the evidence. Here it is: gothamist.com/news/mount-ver…

I am no less confident, that no learned lawyer will affirm that an impeachment can lie against the King, they all going in his name: and one of their maxims is that the King can do no wrong. - Charles I, about a week away from his execution.

1) This year, 2019, marks an important centennial anniversary in America—but it is one that not only are we not celebrating, it’s also a significant moment most of us aren’t even aware of: the 100th anniversary of the Red Summer of 1919.
