This thread from @bigairch, an award winning drinks retailer and life long SNP/Green voter, clearly lays out why we all want a DRS in Scotland just not THIS DRS which will be a disaster. I’d encourage all DRS Whatabouterists to read this 👇
Alright Richard, I work in the trade. I run what has been judged as the best independent wine & whisky retailer in Scotland and one of the top 10 in the UK for 3 straight years. I have also been involved in the campaign 'Have You Got the Bottle?' to introduce a DRS for 10 years.

Why do @APRScotland support a flawed DRS that will fail in its objective? It will result in less recycling, not more. Let's work together to ensure a system that benefits everyone and achieves the goal of increased recycling while minimising costs for consumers and businesses.

Good morning @lornaslater - have you seen the news this morning? Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Asda and Waitrose have all said DRS must be delayed. You’ve ignored 1000s of SMEs calling for a delay but you can’t ignore the supermarkets. Your DRS is untenable.
Hi @lornaslater did you see this yet? That’s the UK’s biggest supermarket @Tesco saying that your DRS needs delayed in order to create an integrated UK-wide DRS. It’s “not fit for purpose, and worse, it risks driving up prices and undermining consumer confidence".

Dear @LornaSlater, the proposed DRS has many flaws it will be: worse for the environment, limit consumer choice, increase costs & jeopardise Scottish jobs. We urge you to pause and revise the scheme with input from the 'real industry'. Let's ensure this DRS works for everyone.

So how do you explain this @Circ_Scotland ?
Very curious tweet from @Circ_Scotland. Scot Gov’s “Full Business Case” for the DRS states that unredeemed deposits will be a highly significant income stream for @Circ_Scotland. “nothing could be more untrue” Really??? gov.scot/publications/deposi…

In case you are just joining us… Tonight at midnight all drinks producers are legally obligated to sign up to a 3 year agreement with @Circ_Scotland for a DRS that still has significant operational flaws and unanswered questions.

Truly amazing, no one available to take questions. Taking inspiration from the Boris playbook @lornaslater? Avoid scrutiny…. – at Scotland, United Kingdom
It is shameful and a dereliction of duty that @lornaslater, @Circ_Scotland and @ZeroWasteScot ‘were not available’ to discuss DRS. Totally unacceptable.
