I have been studying the Quran a lot. Not saying this to boast, I am anon to most.
But the one thing I have noticed is how much it emphasises evidence. Examining it. Not following blindly. Dismantling constructs. Changing your mind. All of these things we suck at as Muslims.

A Muslim man in Medina once stole a suit of armour and framed an innocent Jewish man.
His Muslim clansmen rallied to his defence, appealing to Prophet Muhammad to protect their own.
Then came a Quranic revelation:
โWhoever commits a fault or a sin and then blames it on an innocent person has certainly burdened himself with slander and manifest sin.โ(Quran 4:112)
The revelation condemned the Muslim wrongdoer and defended the innocent Jewish man.
Think about that. For fourteen centuries, Muslims have recited verses that, according to classical accounts, were revealed in part to defend a Jewish man against a Muslim and his tribal supporters.
The Quran did not ask whose tribe he belonged to. It asked who was innocent. That is what principled justice looks like.
Justice is not loyalty to your religion, your nation, or your tribe. It is loyalty to what is right, even when the wrongdoer is one of your own.
That is the Islam I believe in.
