Ukraine shredding Russian bot networks and saving Western democracy as a result would be an absolutely wild victory. Which is yet another reason why we need to keep funding and supporting Ukraine by giving them the weaponry they need to win.
According to Cloudflare Data Explorer the amount of russian bot traffic has dropped to 49% after Ukraine struck a yandex data center. Could this disrupt the midterm elections in the US?

This was actually an excellent movie. Really funny dialogue, stellar performances, hate to see great, new, original movies see anything less than astounding success. Go see Digger, Tom Cruise should win an Oscar; as all of Iñárritu's stars should probably.
‘DIGGER’ has opened with $8M domestically on a projected budget of $160M-$180M. Biggest Hollywood box office bomb of 2026 & one of the biggest bombs of all time.

Some of my friends will be mad I recorded this, and comms people at Anthropic objected to releasing certain parts (and delayed it). But it's important for leaders to make these conversations happen. And I have a lot of respect for these two. Over a month ago, I sat down with Anthropic's key technical leaders @_sholtodouglas & @the_marwell for an optimistic insiders’ view of the AI frontier, with hard questions too: open source, regulatory capture, slowing down USA vs China, and more.

The statue of Prometheus is finally finished. It was cast in Paris, crossed the Atlantic, and was assembled at Starbase. It took us 100 days to go from nothing to this. People of the West, we have lived through an era devoid of dreams, devoid of destiny. But the time has come to reclaim our dream of antiquity. In a few months, we will start building a new city. It will be the most magnificent city in all of history. After all, the great dream of the West has always been to rebuild Rome. Come walk beside us in this endeavor. The world is waiting.

News: We’re moving NFX to self-funded. Taking it private. No more external LP’s after fund IV. The four GP’s stay intact. 8 more big seed investments to make in Fund IV, so hit us up. After that, we'll be doing $100K - $3M investments w/ our own money. Thanks to @homebrew who led the way! @NFX @GigiLevy @peteflint @omri_drory nfx.com/post/self-funding-nf…

Last month I wrote about how we can build a positive and safe future for everyone: meta.com/thefutureisforevery… Every lab has the responsibility and incentive to move at the pace required to train its models safely, and the ability to take its own actions to ensure that happens. The reality is: - People won't want to use agents that are misaligned with them and that don't do what they ask, so labs have a strong natural incentive to make their models more aligned. There is a lot of debate about slowing progress on capabilities until alignment catches up. My view is that trust and alignment are quickly becoming the most important capabilities that will differentiate agents and models. Any lab that doesn't focus on alignment will fall behind. - Labs face significant liability if their models cause harm, so they have a strong incentive to prevent this as well. Meta delayed shipping Muse for several months to focus on safety and security. We didn't call for everyone else to do this before we would. We just did it as part of our day-to-day work because it was clearly the right thing for people and for us. I'm proud of the security foundations we've built. - Engaging independent evaluators and advisors is industry best practice. MSL already does this today in several areas because it helps produce better work. Other labs can just do this too. In general, it would be helpful for there to be a larger and more diverse ecosystem of evaluators. - Committing the significant majority of compute towards serving people rather than racing towards recursive self-improvement is one of the best ways to ensure we develop this technology safely. Meta has made this commitment and other labs can do this as well. I believe the key to building a positive future for everyone is maintaining the right balance of power. This is within our power to do.

Last night as I was going to bed I discovered that someone on Reddit had released the full uncut footage from the Naudet brothers' 9/11 documentary (like literally just released it yesterday), around 13 hours' worth, and I stayed up all night watching it. My immediate takeaways: • It's essentially a documentary about Civilization itself. A full day of pure crisis management caught on camera, teams of cops and firefighters running around improvising plans in the worst chaos imaginable. • You begin to see how old, fat, red-faced mustachioed guys aged 45–65 are really the glue holding society together when all else fails. In an emergency, they're the ones calling the shots. • There are certain scenes that look like a vision of Hell straight from Hieronymus Bosch or Dante, ghostly figures in an orange void over maddening, incoherent radio chatter (this chatter is ever-present and becomes almost the soundtrack to the film, a hellish choir). • It's arguably the beginning of the social media era, since never before has a chaotic event been documented on camera to this extent. And it's being recorded by actual filmmakers with artistic instincts, who sometimes focus on small details that others might miss. Everything is being framed and presented with an audience in mind, which we're all doing with our smartphones every day now. • On that note, the fact that it's all being captured by two French guys is interesting in a way I can't quite express. Made me think about the French-American relationship and their assistance to us in the Revolutionary War, an inextricable tie. Very compelling stuff. old.reddit.com/r/911archive/…

i have a friend when we get together who constantly just talks about getting promoted at his job, & what he needs to do this cycle or that cycle to get a promo to director. pretty nuts to always have this as a background process in your mind. like what terrible use of your personal cognition & bandwidth. the only way to get out of this weird grind & never stand in this line is to create & create well on the outside (companies / content or both).

incredible work from @25YearsAgoLive today. one of the most interesting efforts of any kind we have ever seen on this platform, and probably the greatest historical work there’s ever been on social media.
A formal rescue effort begins at the rubble of the World Trade Center, which has been designated “Ground Zero.” Fleets of ambulances line up, but almost all remain empty. Relatives and friends of victims try to mob the site, but they are turned away. Union Square Park becomes a site of congregation and sorrow. Actor Steve Buscemi, a former FDNY firefighter, is personally volunteering at the site.
