NEWS: @JGPretlow tells me the Assembly plans to pass the Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act by session's end next week, which members conferenced this morning. It aims to reduce single-use packaging by 30% over 12 years.
And Pretlow said he's fairly sure they have the votes to do it.
"We have the plastics bill, the packaging bill, which we're going to do, so there's a lot of stuff happening," Pretlow said, adding, "If we put it on the floor, we'll pass it."

GRRR! NY State passed a very helpful and important ban on single-use plastic bags that's been in effect since 2020. But LOOK at the new system @amazon is making staff at its @StaplesStores return centers use - a big fat rack of Amazon-branded single-use plastic bags. 😡🛍️
I know the agency is underfunded and understaffed but I sure hope the DEC tells Staples and Amazon to stop it ASAP and levvy some fines to back it up.
