P.S. The host of the LA meetup @evangoldin is hiring their first PM: parkade.com/jobs?ashby_jid=5…
Prop 13 supporters in 1979: No one can afford their homes anymore! Stop displacing grandma!
...
Our new house: 95% empty for 13 years since the prior owner passed, until we moved in.
Next door: Empty for 5 years.
Across the street: Empty for 4 years.
Great job, @HJTA!
In the latest bizarre happenings of renting a home out on @Airbnb, Airbnb just refunded my last guest's entire cleaning fee because (1) our sealed dumpster/bear box near our house had trash inside (2) we'd bought a new couch this year, so couch didn't match the photo. Fun times!
Lived in San Francisco for 15 years. Can't say I ever felt unsafe, even when living just outside the Tenderloin.
But seriously — why not just welcome the help? Trump is like a toddler, just trying to upset people. Say "Sure, send em over!" and he loses interest or sends troops.
Palo Alto: Trying to build homes for 100 people here? We're going to need your financials to subsidize 15% of those families paying far under market rates.
How about instead you buy ELEVEN parcels of land for 4 people to live on, and subsidize nothing?

My latest: Mark Zuckerberg has turned part of Palo Alto into a compound, buying at least eleven houses and adding a 7,000-square ft basement, pool with hydro floor and 7-foot statue of his wife.
After eight years of construction, neighbors are steamed.

Super not cool @Apple, sending marketing notifications via a vital app that I need other notifications to — without a way to turn just marketing notifs off.
I hate this crap.
LET'S GOOOOO
… at or below the speed limit please
🚨 All speed cameras are LIVE across San Francisco.
⚠️ Warning period starts June 6

SF issued 31,000 warnings in April alone. It’s time to slow down and save lives. #VisionZero

Oh yeah?
Marc, you taken a lot of buses that have flexible routing, determined in real time, automatically determining the optimal pick up/drop off spot for each rider that changes for every ride, with pre-bookable seats, and you pay in advance?
Where do I find that bus?
Trying to get @SFBART to offer real-time ETAs for the Oakland Airport Connector at @IFlyOAKland and the answer is apparently … it's NEVER happening. But … why?
Would be a lot easier to ride if consumers could actually know when a train is going to depart ahead of time.
We've called 4 times to sort this out, and every time I explain the situation to sales, and they transfer me to account management. Explain to AM, they transfer to sales. Explain to sales, transfer to cancellation. Explain to cancellation, transfer to sales.
How do we fix this?
I keep getting calls from all kinds of companies selling stuff (recruiting services, accounting, even VC cold pitches). No idea who they're getting my number, but it must be out there somehow.
Anyone know how to go about removing it from wherever it's listed?
I want to move to San Jose just to be represented by this mayor. Why does no other elected act like this?
Hey @donovan — thanks for bringing this to my attention. Turns out we have some legislative work to do to fix this for everyone, but in the words of our planning director, you can fix this specific issue with a paper cutter. Here’s what I learned:
California’s Subdivision Map Act (SMA) Section 66434 requires a one-inch margin (leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/f…). Our muni code reflects the state requirement, but it’s not an issue for us—our staff asked you to change it because our experience is that the County consistently rejects maps of record because of incorrect margins, sizing, use of a blue ball point pen, not using a permanent Sharpie for signatures, etc. on the maps. Obviously, this is ridiculous. It’s the kind of needless bureaucracy that contributes to our housing shortage.
I’m sorry we rejected your map. But if we hadn’t, the County would have rejected the map later and then added the time and cost of doing the entire process twice, so our team was trying to get ahead of that. That said, we should have better communicated why we did this and obviously we need to work together to improve the upstream regs and/or downstream process at the County.
We’ll do some outreach to state and county reps, and if you’re interested in helping, just DM me. Seems like the pro-housing army on this thread might be able to help us, too. Good luck with the project. Thank you for investing in San Jose.
Well, at least SOMEONE is receiving traffic violations in San Francisco (this one for blocking the bike lane). Though sadly, Waymo's the only drivers in town that generally seem to abide the law.
Must be amazing to live in a place with elected leaders who actually do hard things, rather than squabbling over the most minute virtue signaling.
Looking at you, California.
Air pollution has dropped significantly in #Paris in the last 15 years. Mayor Anne Hidalgo’s leadership has traded car space for green space, safe bike space, kid space.. and traded pollution for people.
Good trade.
The #1 thing we should be looking at in NYC with congestion pricing up and running is: What's the impact on congestion? $9 has a cost, but massive gridlock and traffic have huge costs too.

For the first time in recent history, San Francisco recorded more traffic fatalities than homicides in 2024, a stunning turn of events.
