Her. Her music brings life back to my solitary soul, keeping me from breaking under the weight of pain that once drained me emotionally and mentally. She didn’t just save me she restored my faith in an artist whose music feels deeply connected to my own soul,

Un día como hoy ROSALÍA asistía a los 40 Music Awards en Valencia para presentar por primera vez LUX 🤍🪽
You deserved everything Rosalia thank you so much for giving us LUX. It is breathtaking, a deeply personal masterpiece that transcends languages, genres and boundaries turning music into an extraordinary experience of the soul.🤍✨️🎵
ROSALÍA celebrates the 1st anniversary of ‘LUX’ via Substack:
“It’s been a year since I gave birth to Lux and I still can’t believe it. The audacity, jsjsjj.
First of all, I apologise if I’ve taken a while to publish more posts on Substack. Sometimes, when life leaves you confused (or when you feel confused yourself), it becomes impossible to think clearly, let alone express yourself properly.
I don’t know what it’s like for other people, but in my case, a certain amount of movement helps me write. Too much movement, on the other hand, makes it completely impossible. My life has been excessively hectic this year, in 2026, and to write, you need to stop or, if you ask me, lie down. I love writing in bed; I’ve always done it that way. I think it has something to do with the fact that, in my teenage bedroom, there wasn’t enough space for both a piano and a desk, so I had to choose between the two. You can probably guess which one I chose.
For me, writing means confronting my own logical contradictions and my long list of imperfections… Barthes says: ‘Who would be capable of bearing contradiction without shame? And yet, this anti-hero exists.’ I’m not there yet. As I write this, I feel ashamed of myself, and this text is what makes me feel that way, haha.
Besides, what’s wrong with silence? Why does silence make me feel particularly uncomfortable, unless it’s a silence shared with my sister or a musical silence of my own choosing? Nick Cave says: ‘I don’t think silence is violence, complicity or a lack of courage, but rather that silence is generally the preferred option when someone doesn’t know what they’re talking about, has doubts or is conflicted, which, in my case, is most of the time.’ I have plenty of all three, which is why I often write less than I’d like to, but more than circumstances seem to allow. Because tell me, how can you not lose your train of thought and your pen when you’re trying to write in the middle of a hurricane?
It’s been a very hectic year. So much has happened. Looking back, this year has been one of the most difficult of my life, but also one of the most meaningful. The word ‘remember’ comes from recordari: re- (again, to return) + cor, cordis (heart) = to pass through the heart once more. I think that now, exactly one year after Lux set off on its journey, it’s important to let it pass through my heart again. Why not keep finding excuses to celebrate all the pieces that fell into place? When I do, my voice becomes a little choked up and my cheeks turn red, but ‘when nobody sees me, I can be or not be…
But seriously, I wonder whether I made this album as much for others as I did for myself. I also wonder whether I would make this album the same way again, or whether I would even dare to embark on making an album like this again. When I was making this album, I thought about cathedrals. Trying to make an album that sounds like a cathedral… I don’t know if I succeeded, but I think the fact that I tried is enough.
I’ll tell you one more thing: this album has given me everything: so many emotions, journeys and blessings!!! I’ve visited 3 continents, travelled through 17 countries and survived 57 shows (not counting Milan, of course). So many places I’ve learned from and so many different ways of doing things and existing that make me think about the different languages of love.
Nowadays, we name and distinguish the languages of love so much because it’s easier to name love than to love. But wasn’t love our mother tongue? It’s important not to forget to nourish yourself and others. I say this because I forget every single day, but I try to send music to the people I love and cook delicious things for them, too. I love acts of service; there’s something about preparing something for someone else that fascinates me. That’s why I took the time to put together a playlist of 1,000 songs that I listened to throughout the years I spent thinking about, composing and sharing Lux.
Here is your present”

ROSALÍA reveals that her goal with ‘LUX’ was to make the album sound like cathedrals, but she doesn’t know if she achieved it:
“I wonder whether I made this album as much for others as I did for myself. I also wonder whether I would make this album in the same way again, or whether I would even dare to embark on making an album like this again. When I was making this album, I was thinking about cathedrals. Trying to make an album sound like a cathedral… I don’t know if I managed it, but I think the fact that I tried is enough.”
