Nearly 30 years ago, Congress had the courage to take on the tobacco industry, whose products killed more than 400,000 Americans every year.
Banning fast-food advertising marketed to children, could cut the childhood obesity rate by up to 18%.
Congress must act.

This is policy in the West Bank: shoot first, ask no questions later.
The US cannot continue to turn a blind eye to the illegal actions of the extremist Israeli government.
We cannot allow American citizens and innocent Palestinians to be killed with impunity.
We must act.

The New York Times reports that there were no U.S. officials at the funeral of Aysenur Eygi, the U.S. citizen who was killed by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank last week.
While it’s true that her funeral was a one-hour flight away from the nearest embassy or consulate, it would have sent a profound message if a U.S. official had attended.
I say that while also acknowledging there are much more profound messages and actions, but these little things really matter to most people.
Now, if her family asked that no U.S. officials be present, that is their right, but if they didn’t, this would have been such an easy thing to do.

This week: 19 people killed & scores injured in a strike in a “humanitarian zone” in Gaza.
An American shot in the head in the West Bank.
Now, another school bombed, killing 14 people, including 6 UN aid workers.
Enough is enough. No more money for Netanyahu's war machine.

This is an excellent documentary. It follows a single cow. You watch her give birth to a calf, provide the milk we drink, you see her graze in the fields and socialize with other cows. And then when she shows signs of age and illness, you watch her human handlers, whom she trusts, shoot her in the head.
I’m not a vegetarian, but I see the occasional discourse about it on here. I think if you don’t have some misgivings about killing nice animals and eating them you’re probably a little heartless. At the very least people should have better understanding of where their food comes from.

It happens every single time: the message from peaceful & righteous protesters gets drowned out by wreckers, possible provocateurs and morons whose juvenile emotional release is more important to them than the cause itself.
But make no mistake, among the protesters yesterday were freed Israeli hostages and family members of current hostages. Six of them were arrested yesterday for protesting Netanyahu's lie-riddled speech. Disgusting how they're being smeared.

The ICC prosecutor is right to issue arrest warrants for political leaders who engage in war crimes.
The global community must uphold international law.
Without these standards of decency & morality, the planet may rapidly descend into anarchy, never-ending wars, and barbarism.

Americans are not blind. They see the bombing in Gaza, the starving children.
Congress pretends we are powerless to stop it.
But, the fact is, if we had the courage to stand up to some powerful special interests and use our leverage, we could stop the destruction NOW.

To Israelis still able to feel. Stop your government. Take to the streets to demand an immediate ceasefire. Enough is enough.

Hi everyone,
I don't know how many of my followers are real people who care about Ukraine and how many are bots.
I would like to address the real people who choose to stand with Ukraine in these dark times.
Could you please try retweeting as many of my posts about the Kherson region as you feel comfortable with?
The world needs to see what is taking place there! The world needs to see the devastation Russia has inflicted on these poor people, their pets, and the wildlife in the region.
Please help spread the word! Many thanks in advance!
Thank you for your support!

We tax and regulate other industries that harm, with the fossil fuel industry, not only is the tax minimal but we subside them! #SafeguardOurClimate #auspol
🍻 *Beer* is a bigger revenue raiser than the Petroleum Resources Rent Tax (the money we get from gas companies) 🤯
Spirits & Visas also make more while tobacco brings in 5 times as much revenue as the meagre PRRT.
It's time we taxed gas companies properly. #Budget2023 #auspol

Here's the thing.
The last thing I want to do is to go to a crowded festival and talk to people about who they eat.
The only reason I do it is bc almost everyone is horrified when they see how sentient beings end up on their plates.
Most know something is wrong, but try to justify it by repeating something they've heard:
protein tho, plants have feelings tho, it's hard tho, it tastes good tho, crops death tho, it's hard tho, can't change the system tho, etc.
Many people mean well, and when I give them a chance, and respectfully show them that their actions (abusing animals by paying for it) and values (loving animals) don't match, they change.
It's the best feeling in the world when I get someone see the truth and change.
Whatever you do, do something. Speak up. Being vegan is the minimum we can do!
Remember, in the face of injustice, silence is not an option!
