Had an interesting creator email this week. A company reached out about an upcoming game in a series I’ve covered before, encouraged me to check out the demo and said they’d be “highly interested in a partnership.” So naturally, I asked what the partnership involved. Turns out the “partnership” is creating content for free, competing against other creators doing the same & then maybe being selected to work with them further. I’m genuinely happy to work with companies on both paid & unpaid opportunities when there’s mutual value. But asking creators to produce free content as an audition for the possibility of a partnership? Can we please stop calling that a partnership!!!😭

We lost a young Pokémon star who touched the hearts of so many. 🥺💔 Avery the Poke Kid, the beloved Pokémon content creator who inspired hundreds of thousands of people with his journey, has passed away at the age of 12. Avery became known for his love of Pokémon cards, his pack-opening videos, and his incredible positivity while battling cancer. His story brought together a huge Pokémon community that supported him throughout his journey. Just days before his passing, Avery achieved one of his biggest dreams — reaching 100,000 YouTube subscribers and receiving his Silver Play Button. 🥹❤️ His parents shared the heartbreaking news on September 19, 2026, after Avery had recently entered hospice care following the progression of his cancer. His smile, love for Pokémon, and the joy he brought to so many people will not be forgotten. Rest in peace, Avery. 🕊️❤️
