Been reading Unhinged: The Dating Diaries of Bill Black and this book is hilarious, yet also real.  If you’ve ever gone on a date, you’ll relate to at least one of these stories. Some are painfully relatable. Some are completely unhinged. Some had me wondering how the hell this actually happened. Modern dating in book form… good read

The world just met Billy Evans, the partner of Elizabeth Holmes who’s central to new documentary ‘You Can See Everything.’ But even before the film hit theaters, Evans put a Vanity Fair writer through his own strange and tricky mini-drama vanityfair.visitlink.me/hz0E…

one thing i find fascinating upon rewatching YCSE is that it's entirely plausible that Holmes doesn't explicitly *lie* about a single thing in the film. in the beach patio scene, when Nathan grills her on whether she's ever lied, she defines lying as "intentionally saying something that is untrue." paired with the linguistic sleight of hand she stands by wrt the "this device CAN...", her (ostensible) confusion around the "Who's on first" bit, and her (alleged) ignorance of the Billy/A24 deal... it's not out of the realm of possibility to say that she's carefully constructed her reality (and/or memory; assuming she has lingering trauma) to only include True information that supports her narrative/case the rest is up to Billy and whoever the fuck else wants to pick up the pieces, and you can see her lean on Billy to (messily) defend her, continually keeping her hands clean. she slips through the interrogations like sand
Elizabeth Holmes pursues honesty through pathological lying, total power over her own narrative by manipulating men by letting them rob her of her own voice. in the end, she is content to have “won” on her terms; only one person in the entire film can see that she has still lost.

This is why You Can See Everything is a masterpiece Near the very beginning, Holmes and Billy say a NYT reporter quoted Holmes as saying, “They’re playing a character I created.” The couple contends that Holmes wouldn’t say that and, instead, said “They’re playing a character they created.” One word changes the meaning from guilty to innocent. Then the film builds up to Fielder having a similar moment, where he has to decide if Holmes said “I knew [Billy] was talking to you about it” or “about something.” One makes her look guilty, the other innocent. Understanding this is the key to understanding the deeper meaning of the entire film

In reality, proximity is one of the biggest advantages you can have when it comes to getting attractive women. Most attractive women will sleep and get with guys who are a part of their "world" and guys they can relate to. That fashion model is sleeping with guys in the industry who have status and can help her climb the ranks. That sexy bartender at the club is sleeping with other bartenders or owners in nightlife. That sorority girl who grew up in the suburbs would rather sleep with an upper middle class Asian or Indian dude who has a lot in common with her than some broke White guy. This concept of a random guy showing up, doing Game, and being a side piece to attractive women is usually wishful thinking.

A few readers have taken me to task for “missing the point of the film,” which is apparently that Elizabeth Holmes is unknowable and everything is ambiguous. Here’s my response: She went after Tyler Shultz and Erika Cheung with everything she had. I was threatened with litigation on a daily basis for months on end. It was a ruthless cover-up of a breathtaking fraud, and she was at the controls. Just a little context for those who have forgotten or didn’t follow the original story. By the way, I loved the film. #BestPicture, IMO.

For most of history, men didn't necessarily have to be desirable. They had to be useful. Providing security and stability was often enough, but as women become less economically dependent on men, the equation changes. Being useful no longer guarantees being wanted. It's no longer about "what can I provide?" but "why would she desire me?"
I wonder how much the Clavicular phenomenon only exists because there’s less coupling up overall. When people coupled up all the time, no one believed that women cared primarily about looks. A generation can only believe that if they’ve become sexless.

Sat next to a divorce lawyer on a flight out of Phoenix who only represents wives divorcing guys worth $10M+ Asked him what shocks the wives most when his forensic accountants subpoena the husband's bank accounts He laughed and said "none of these guys spend their own money. Their LLCs owe Chase and Amex $300,000 at 0% while their personal cash sits untouched" Everyone assumes a guy making $1M a year pays for his life and his business out of his checking account When forensic accountants pull the discovery packet on a high-net-worth business owner, they see the exact same two-file setup almost every time: File 1 is his personal Social Security Number. On paper he looks like a monk. A 760 credit score. Two personal credit cards with a $400 balance. Under 3% utilization. Zero personal unsecured debt File 2 is his EIN (his holding LLC and operating company). That file carries $200,000 to $350,000 across six business credit cards at 0% APR for 12 to 18 months Every dollar of business overhead, ad spend, software, equipment, flights, client dinners, and contractor invoices goes on the 0% business cards. Meanwhile the actual cash his company generates gets swept straight into Treasury bills paying 5%, index funds, or real estate down payments He gets three things at the exact same time: - His cash earns yield for 12 to 18 months before he ever pays the bill - Every $250,000 he runs through Amex and Chase prints 500,000 to 1,000,000 tax-free points that pay for every first-class flight and hotel he takes - His personal credit report looks pristine because those six business cards only report to Dun & Bradstreet and corporate bureaus Now look at what a normal guy making $120,000 with a 730 credit score does He puts a $14,000 business expense or renovation on his personal Chase Sapphire card. Chase reports that $14,000 balance to Experian on the 20th of the month. His personal credit score drops 55 points overnight. When he goes to apply for another card or a mortgage, the bank treats him like a default risk Same credit score at the start. Same banks. One guy put the balance on his SSN and got punished. The other guy put $250,000 on his EIN and got paid to borrow it You don't need $10 million to set up the second file. You need a clean LLC, a 700+ personal credit score to guarantee the application, and the right bank sequence (Amex soft pulls, Chase Ink under 5/24, US Bank 18-month 0% lines) so five banks approve you in the same window before the inquiries catch up If you have a 700+ credit score and want my team to unlock 150 K-250K in 0% business credit under your LLC, book a call using the link in my bio

I was completely fascinated by You Can See Everything, which evolves over the course of 3 hours from a documentary into something much stranger than that, less straightforward and vastly more beautiful. A gift link to my review at @thefp: thefp.com/p/did-nathan-field…

I saw the Elizabeth Holmes documentary 'You Can See Everything' last night. Everyone's debating whether she's a liar. That's not the story. The film is deceiving you in real time & most of you won't notice. I wrote about it 👇 readtheprofile.com/p/elizabe…

How are you possibly able to say with a straight face that dread and FOMO are appropriate "alpha" tools to create desire, but telling your woman you are ready to walk away from the relationship because of its poor sex life is a "duty sex trap." The former tools are only effective in the first place because they are the latter's derivatives. The reason your woman gets jealous or nervous when you're not around or paying attention to her is because she's afraid you might LEAVE. It is not "forcing compliance" to walk away from a woman who is playing power games around sex with you. This accusation is gaslighting - like telling someone being abused that they are in fact the abuser when they stand up for themselves. On the contrary, the reason you must be willing to walk away is that this credible threat is the only way to actually end the power game. Because let's face it: when sex is on ration in a marriage and there are consistent barriers put up around intimacy, that is exactly what you are in. A game. And since she is running a sexual cartel, you better believe it's a rigged one. You talk a lot about frame, but what is frame? Frame is the set of assumptions agreed upon in a situation. Frame is the game people are playing. Every frame has its rules. Violate them and you get shamed. Cut away all the verbiage, Giff, and the bottom line is you want guys to play their wife's game. You want them to lead better & to be less needy because odds are eventually she will notice and respond better to you for it. I agree this is a smart thing to do, because it shows good faith on your end and builds credibility, both with her and with yourself (you feel more like a man when you act like one, and become harder to manipulate). But all of this is nevertheless safe, generally accepted behavior by the woman, which is why it's only half the equation. The other half is the more uncomfortable part: the wife's own behavior needs to be addressed, because in your frame, you are not willing to tolerate a marriage where sex is controlled. Do you understand now why this portion is so significant? Her falling into your frame isn't you being a better leader; it's her changing her behavior. In her frame, the sex isn't happening because you need to do better. So you do better. But if you do not call her out for her own bad behavior, and create real deterrence around it (this is where dread & withdrawing attention comes in), then your frame has never really entered the conversation. Maybe she trusts you more, but you are still playing her game. You think you're going to win this game, and maybe you will, but in the long term the juice is never worth the squeeze; it's winning battles to lose a war. That's why Republicans dominated elections for 30 years and until Trump (who refused to play their game) nearly lost the country in the process. They didn't set the cultural frame, and when it comes to frame, you can't only play defense. You need to set the terms of debate, and handle the tension of the other person reacting to them. That is what this conversation boils down to, and it's why at times it seems we are talking past each other. While we both agree step #1 is men looking inward and becoming better leaders, you want this so guys can win this game with their wives; I don't, I want it so that they have the leverage and self-belief to quit - because I don't think there's any truly acceptable win condition in it. The game of "how to get your wife to be affectionate and fuck you" is stupid and isn't worth playing. I will not entertain women's lame excuses on this topic; I am not interested in buying your rug. If you're a man with self-respect, your main objective should just be to extricate yourself (and your woman) from relationship patterns where this sort of control is on the table. Walk away, and invite her to walk away with you. If she's a good faith woman who truly wants connection, she will; control is as bad for her getting love, as it is for you. This process may take time because shame and fear makes guys stay in dynamics that demean them longer than they should, but the goal is nevertheless the same: become the man who feels he deserves more, become the man less afraid of consequences; who values truth over his woman's reactions - and indeed over losing his marriage. Because your balls, your standards, your inability to be tamed - these are the only traits that really change how much a woman gives herself to you sexually. The dark truth is that with women, being benevolent is optional. There are plenty of "alpha" shitbags who get sex whenever they want because women enter their world. They assert their reality on women and do not let women control them; indeed, women often bend over backwards to please them. This may be selfish and destructive to the woman, but women do it anyway, because these guys aren't afraid of them and actually control the frame. You don't have to be like these guys in how you treat a woman. You can and should build your woman up instead; to help her get the love she craves. You should cherish your woman and be considerate of her needs when you lead because you want a healthy relationship and a clear conscience. But being a better man will not get your woman's sexual surrender. In order to guide her to this eros, you need to control the frame just as these assholes do, and that means adopting the same attitude of indifference to staying with her when she tries to make you accept nonsense. The only difference is the honorable alpha's motives aren't selfish, they are win-win; you are calling her out not because she won't give you what you want, but because her fear of losing control is stagnating the marriage for both of you. You see how she is blocking the flow of love, and you won't accept it. You want her all, unrestricted, or you don't want her at all. That's your frame - or at least what it should be. Anything else in marriage is a game of egos, filled with arbitrary limitations, that isn't worth playing.
It’s still negotiating desire. It’s explicitly putting compliance around sex as what you’re trying to get from her in return for your presence. It’s more alpha than chasing her validation, but still the same duty sex trap—still transactional.

I found myself thinking about something extraordinary today, and I felt the need to share it. Judaism is one of the few major world religions with no ambition to convert humanity, conquer the world, or impose its beliefs on others. In fact, we make it very difficult to convert to Judaism. Think about the world around us. Muslim supremacists seek to impose their interpretation of Islam on society, establish a caliphate, and govern people’s lives through Sharia law. They want to dictate how others live. Christianity has historically sought to spread its faith across the world through conversion, at times using empires and political power to do so. Communists have historically sought to spread their ideology worldwide, reshaping entire societies according to their political vision. The Chinese Communist Party extends its authoritarian influence through surveillance technologies, censorship, economic pressure, and political control. Ideological progressives increasingly demand conformity to their worldview, seeking to determine what people can say, what they should believe, and which opinions society will tolerate. Qatar, whose citizens represent roughly 0.004% of humanity, invests billions in universities, media, lobbying, and political networks to expand its global influence. A tiny population with enormous resources and ambitions to shape institutions and public opinion far beyond its borders. Imperialists have spent centuries conquering territories and imposing their cultures, political systems, and beliefs on others. And then there are the Jews. We don’t need anyone to become Jewish. We don’t ask Christians to observe Shabbat, Muslims to eat kosher, or the Chinese to study the Torah. We don’t demand that other countries adopt Jewish law. We have no ambition to dictate how anyone else should live. We simply want to live as Jews, preserve our traditions, raise our children, and live freely in our ancestral homeland. Nothing less. Nothing more. Yet for centuries, we have been persecuted, expelled, massacred, and accused of plotting to control the world. The people who have no ambition to convert the world are constantly accused of controlling it. The people who simply want to preserve their identity are accused of threatening everyone else’s. And the world’s one Jewish state is portrayed as a threat to world peace. Perhaps the problem was never what Jews wanted to impose on the world. Perhaps the problem is that Jews have consistently refused to surrender their identity to those determined to impose their worldview upon us. We don’t want to rule the world. We don’t want to convert the world. We simply want the right to live in it as Jews. And apparently, even that is too much for some to accept.

In a cabin with crappy wifi and haven’t posted on substack in a minute so I decided to write two articles today!
Ask a man when he fell in love with a woman, and he might tell you about the first time he saw her. Her smile, her hair, the way she looked in a particular dress. “Love at first sight.” I’ll never forget my high school English teacher, who was so angry that the prince fell in love with Ariel before she’d spoken a single word that she wrote multiple letters to Disney to complain.
