Yesterday, President Yoweri Museveni urged religious leaders to move beyond sectarianism and use Christian principles to promote unity, wealth creation and development.
While addressing the pastors Museveni recalled his time as President of Scripture Union, saying some teachings in the Bible had been misunderstood. He cited the parable of the talents arguing that people should not bury what God has entrusted to them but should multiply it through productive work. He relentlessly thanked Pr. Robert & Jessica Kayanja for creating such a rich network of international delegates. "I am very happy to hear Pastor Kayanja and other pastors talking about integration of Africa, political integration of East Africa. It is all music to my ears." said Kaguta.
Museveni commended Pastor Robert Kayanja for his work in Karamoja and Kiryandongo and expressed support for the pastors’ SACCO, to which he pledged a contribution of shs2 billion. He also launched three books by Pastor Kayanja; Readdressing the Imbalance, The Holy Spirit and Smile Karamoja.
Museveni said prosperity cannot be achieved through aid and he argued that wealth is created by producing goods and services and accessing markets.
He further reiterated his support for African economic integration and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) saying larger and more stable markets would make it easier for African wealth creators to do business. He linked economic integration with stronger cooperation on security.
Museveni also noted that global prosperity should be based on a “win-win” formular arguing that reducing poverty and expanding prosperity in Africa would benefit the wider world. #globalaffluence
