I've updated my Padres payroll Google Sheet for 2026. You can make a copy to add players and change the option decisions at the top to see how it impacts future payroll/tax.
I've also added lineup tabs, you can select starters vs R/L and it will very roughly optimize.

The tools required to make a sophisticated visualization used to act as a kind of bullshit gatekeeper. A plot alone could make you interested in what someone was saying. It wasn’t perfect, but it worked. Now it’s almost the opposite. The uglier the plot, the more I trust it.

Key point: And MLB chose to punish small-market Padres for growing game by deny them competitive balance draft picks since ‘23, while
other small markets — including, deservedly, Brewers— got one per year.
That’ll teach Padres for achieving top-5 attendance every year.

+3.82 ARC per 100 possessions

And this was BEFORE his 118.2 EV dinger last night. He has most of the hallmark risks of low BA sluggers. But it is 80 grade juice. And he is most likely 100% free in your league.
