tbh. @bot has passed my toothbrush test. i would pay [1] money per month to keep it in my life. i was wrong about ai assistants.
[1] circa $300/month in tokens would be acceptable to me.

Hold up, reading code is still valuable.
Why people should learn to code by hand: it's a mechanism for learning and teaching.
In much the same way you should still learn calculus, even if writing it by hand isn't that "useful" for your career.
@karpathy's series on llm's is a wonderful example (it's incredible btw).
Come in knowing a little calc AND python and you'll get a ton out of it very quickly. Following this would be much harder not knowing operator overloading, FP arithmetic, classes, etc.
The future is not writing python, rust, or asm by hand. But just like learning mathematical notation, grokking one or a few PLs well is a foundation on which you can build a lot of other deep knowledge, and gain a strong sense of computing systems.

friendly reminder: this is on Monday 🤝
→ learn about speculative decoding to speed-up inference
→ if you're a beginner and not interested, just use llama.app that does this for you automatically 🦙
Learn about how to get multipliers in local LLM speed-ups using speculative decoding in this livestream with @mervenoyann, @MaartenGr and @_EldarKurtic

Very excited to share my everyday workflow using
@bot for engineering work.
Come to Compile to hear how :-)

This is Pele, my new rendering library for diagrams and charts, compatible with the latest Mermaid syntax.
- 100-500× faster than mermaid.js
- 6× smaller bundle
- No dependencies
- Easy to theme
- Responsive to device width
In pursuit of making Obsidian insanely fast and cohesively designed, I always found the Mermaid library to be too big, too slow, and too hard to theme. Pele will be the new renderer in the next version of Obsidian, but you can start using it now.
Pele [ˈpɛlɛ] is named after the goddess of volcanoes and fire. It's open source under the MIT license. Try the playground!

never made sense to me why you guys think cpas know anything about security but alas i spent a career doing fedrmap where we actually test things with technical rigor 😅
Yup, we have SOC2 and push to main:

GRC engineering starts with automating the boring stuff. It should not end there.
The goal is continuous assurance, not just passing the next audit.
