Keep using Meta ads or Business Manager after Oct 30, and you accept crawl rights over sites associated with your account. That is how the new Commercial Terms work. They walked back "train." Read the crawl clause anyway. $META

Legal experts still warn the crawl permission is broad. "Develop" advertising and business products can cover a lot. robots.txt is a preference, not a clause in the terms. A walked-back word is not a read of the clause.

Founder rule before a platform commercial-terms date: 1. Inventory domains and URLs tied to Business Manager, Pages, and ads 2. Read crawl + AI clauses and your robots.txt posture 3. Decide keep, narrow, or exit before the effective date Write it down. Then keep using or stop.

A South African coffee chain's internal dashboard had a login screen. The data loaded before anyone logged in. Names and contacts for 132 Bootlegger locations, plus performance and pipeline data, sat in the page source for anyone with the URL. A login screen is not a lock.

Two lessons for anyone shipping AI-built internal tools: 1. A login page that hides the screen doesn't protect the data. The server must refuse to send it until you sign in. 2. The leak came from the old copy. A migration isn't done until the old app and its data are gone.

Before an AI-built tool touches real data: 1. Open it logged out and view the page source 2. Check every API call returns nothing without a session 3. List every deployment URL, kill old ones 4. Keep real names out of demos Then ask someone who didn't build it to break it.

The FBI searched 40+ homes in Texas and seized about 187 laptops and remote-control devices. Many were work laptops US companies had shipped to "new remote hires." Prosecutors say the people logging in were North Korean IT workers. Your onboarding flow is a security control.

The lesson for anyone hiring remotely: A background check confirms an identity exists. It doesn't confirm the person doing the work is that identity. The FBI calls the fix "identity in depth": no single check catches this, so you layer checks from the offer to the last day.

Remote-hire rule: 1. Verify ID live on video (plus E-Verify in the US) 2. Ship the laptop only to the address on that ID 3. Alert on remote-desktop tools and KVM devices on work machines 4. Flag bank, address or phone changes in the first 90 days Have a person review flags.

Accenture now centrally funds $29 a month per person for Claude. Some staff had been running up $500 to $1,000 a month. Above $29, the cost has to be charged to a project or team budget. AI tools bill by usage. Most AI budgets don't. $ACN

The lesson isn't $29 vs $1,000. A company-wide AI budget has no owner, so nobody sees the bill until finance does. When usage is metered, the cost should sit with whoever gets the value: the project, the client, the team. Accenture moved it there after the spend showed up.

Founder rule for AI tools: 1. Give every seat a funded monthly allowance 2. Name who pays above it (project, client or team) and how to get approved 3. Each month, check your heaviest users: is the spend producing work you bill or ship? Write it down before the big invoice.
