I belong to the Terminal 1 class in Ireland, most flights are Ryanair, and I really don't think they get the credit they deserve. Easy to mock the no frills model, but this is an Irish company that has revolutionised how we live, and should be celebrated.

2. N. Ire Orange Order insisted on marching where not wanted.
The DUP leader says Unionism is being “goaded by Sinn Fein to pull down power sharing”. Only one party is goading. Like Russia.

I have been arguing for decades that every single penny of Scottish govt money should be withdrawn from St Andrews and given to Dundee.
The aristocrats, royals and other toffs can then have a private university all to themselves - and they can find the cash.

"Catholicism is not a foreign religion imposed upon England. It is the ancient faith of England.
It is the faith of Bede and King Alfred, of St Dunstan, St Anselm and St Thomas Becket. It raised the great cathedrals of Canterbury, Lincoln and Salisbury. It formed the intellectual world of Robert Grosseteste and Roger Bacon, in which faith and reason, theology and the beginnings of science, were not enemies but companions.
It gave England her mystical tradition: Walter Hilton, the anonymous author of The Cloud of Unknowing, Mother Julian of Norwich and Margery Kempe. It gave us Chaucer and Langland, Malory and the Arthurian imagination. It gave us the sacred music of Taverner, Tallis and Byrd.
And when the old faith was driven from public life, it produced saints and martyrs: St John Fisher, St Thomas More and St Edmund Campion. Even Shakespeare, almost certainly a closet Catholic himself, was formed within the cultural, moral and imaginative inheritance of a country that had been Catholic for nearly a thousand years.
To speak, therefore, of Catholicism as somehow alien to England is to misunderstand England herself. Before the Reformation altered her religious identity, Catholicism had already shaped her saints and scholars, her kings and poets, her universities and cathedrals, her music, imagination and law."

What exactly does qualify for the 25th if not this? This is what the pathetic clown spends his time on when he's not ruining Washington. Yet no one interviewing a cabinet member, say Vance, dares confront them about this lunacy.

‼️ Britain’s economists keep searching the sofa cushions for 0.2% of growth while ignoring the elephant sitting on the economy: Brexit.
Rejoining the Single Market would cut trade barriers, attract investment, strengthen the tax base and ease the fiscal squeeze.
Yet it remains the reform they dare not name.

It is unbelievable that, after more than four years of Russia’s war against Ukraine, Russian citizens can still travel to Europe to go shopping in Paris or London — while Russia wages war and its intelligence services carry out espionage, sabotage and cyberattacks across Europe.
Why does Europe continue to make entry so easy when we know that Russian intelligence services are active across Europe?
Europe is digging its own grave.

Fascinating thread on growing pressure Iran is under
#Iran’s Growing Debate Over How to End the War
🔹The differences within Iran’s leadership over how to proceed with the war are becoming increasingly visible.
🔹Today, both President Masoud Pezeshkian and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf made unusually direct comments about the need to end the war and the economic costs of continuing it.
🔹Ghalibaf said that regardless of how much military power Iran possesses, “if people are hungry” and there is no economic growth, the country cannot endure. Security, he argued, cannot be sustained without a functioning economy. He then added that, as someone with a military background, “we know the value of peace better than those who talk about peace.”
🔹That last point is important. Ghalibaf has increasingly positioned himself alongside Pezeshkian in arguing for a diplomatic way out, while pushing back against hardliners who portray such an approach as capitulation.
🔹Pezeshkian was even more direct: “The war must end at some point.” His argument was that Iran should end it now, while Tehran still believes it is negotiating from a position of strength, rather than wait until its economic situation deteriorates further. He also lashed out at critics of his administration, saying those sitting “outside the ring” have little understanding of the pressures the government is actually facing.
🔹These comments come amid increasingly open acknowledgments of Iran’s economic problems. Central Bank Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati recently admitted on state television that Iran cannot sell its oil because of the blockade. Trump’s new economic pressure campaign is making the situation even more difficult.
🔹There is also a growing concern about Hormuz. Before the latest two weeks of fighting, Ghalibaf had already warned that the Strait has strategic value only as long as ships continue to use it. If traffic remains disrupted, other countries will inevitably search for alternatives.
🔹That appears to be happening. Reports that millions of barrels of oil are already being moved through alternative routes are now being cited by the more pragmatic camp as evidence that Iran cannot rely indefinitely on disruption in Hormuz as its main source of leverage. This is consistent with the broader problem I discussed earlier: Iran can impose substantial costs through Hormuz, but it cannot remain in a permanent state of confrontation with the U.S. and the GCC states.
🔹The problem is that the hardliners also have a point. According to them, even if Tehran is prepared to return to diplomacy, there is little indication that Trump wants to return to the previous terms. His new economic campaign suggests that Washington may instead use Iran’s growing difficulties to demand more.
🔹This is creating a vicious circle. The longer the confrontation continues, the stronger the economic case for diplomacy becomes. But the more Washington increases pressure, the harder it becomes for Iranian leaders to make concessions without appearing to capitulate.
🔹What is becoming clearer, however, is that an important part of Iran’s leadership now believes that the current situation is not sustainable and that the military leverage accumulated during the war needs to be translated into a diplomatic outcome sooner rather than later.

Ireland has become a giant, giant tax beneficiary.
Apple alone — here’s the tax bill for EU countries
Ireland - €4.1bn
-vs-
Germany - €132m
France - €54m
Italy €38m
Spain €29m
Apple sells way more stuff in bigger countries but we still get almost all the tax benefit
