Stephen Lynch last had a primary challenger in 2020. Robbie Goldstein, a doctor, ran to Lynch's left, but was soundly defeated failing to get much traction beyond traditionally lefty Jamaica Plain leading Lynch to an easy victory

California's gubernatorial primary results were certified last week. Democrat Xavier Becerra and Republican Steve Hilton advanced to the general, though fellow Dem Tom Steyer came within punching distance of a lockout.

Last Tuesday's Texas Democratic Senate primary was quite racially mixed. Below is a vote-density map of modeled precinct-level race turnout among Democratic primary voters.
There were around 2.3 million votes - 43% were white, 29% Latino, 21% black, and 7% Asian/other.

Humphrey netted most of his total votes from the port city of Duluth, the largest community in the region, as well the mining cities of Hibbing and Virginia.
Nixon managed to eke out a victory in rural Cook County, which at the time was a presidential bellwether.

Eileen Higgins has won the Miami Mayoral Election by 19 points! Harris won by just 1% last year.
Higgins won across the city, only losing in the most heavily Cuban areas on the west end of the city, but even there Gonzalez did not have massive margins

In last Tuesday’s TN-07 special election, Democrats made their greatest gains in the city of Nashville, which had been carved up in redistricting. Although this part of Nashville shifted nearly 20 points to the left, it was not enough to power Aftyn Behn to victory.

On Tuesday, Republican Matt Van Epps won the TN-07 special election by just under 9 points, a double-digit underperformance of President Trump's performance last year.

Zohran Mamdani has cemented DSA power in New York City, securing a majority and winning more votes for mayor than anyone since John Lindsay in 1965.
Like Lindsay, he faced split opposition in a contest with shifting party bases and interests, perhaps a sign of times to come.

In 1964, Virginia chose President Lyndon Johnson over Senator Barry Goldwater. Virginia's newly enfranchised Black population enabled Johnson's victory. Conversely, many White Virginians, especially in Southside, dramatically switched their allegiance to the Republican Party.

The Bronx's Hudson and Sound coasts are much whiter and more suburban in nature than the rest of the dense, majority-minority borough. Politically, their similarities stop there — the west's blue Riverdale blends in while the eastern coast has the reddest parts of the borough.

The 1998 Senate Election in Pennsylvania saw incumbent GOP Senator Arlen Specter win reelection in a landslide. Specter was pro-choice and endorsed by the AFL-CIO. His Democratic opponent was pro-life, and, as shown by the map, virtually unknown outside of Somerset County.
