Things left to do before The Sockdolager archives are back online: - fix a minor mobile display issue - fix a couple of display errors in Firefox - route a handful of old URLs to new ones - minor data cleanup on 80-ish stories We are so very close to being finished with this.

Significant progress on the Sockdolager rehosting project. This IS going to happen, and the archives ARE coming back.

The Sockdolager archives are coming back. I (Paul) am still working on it. All URLs will still be valid. I’m so sorry it’s taken so long.

An update on the re-hosting of The Sockdolager: We now have a content-complete database of stories in our new CMS. Next is translating the new site design into a theme for that CMS, and redirecting the hostname.

I (Paul) don’t want to commit to an ETA for the remaining work, but I will say that I THINK all the truly annoying parts that required me to learn new things and/or write actual code are done.

Hey! An update: I know the Sockdolager website is down. It will be coming back on its new hosting as soon as I can manage, hopefully within the week. (I’ve already managed to get a version of the new Stories database working on a test site, so we’re close.) —Paul

Hofstadter’s law applies, as always. But the archive WILL come back; maintaining the availability of the writing we’ve been so honored to publish is a very high priority for the Sockdolager, even during the long winter of this hiatus.

Hello, friends! In the next few weeks, The Sockdolager’s archives will be moving to a new web host and a new design. This will probably involve some downtime, but the URLs to all stories will be the same when we come back.

Switching to cheaper hosting will allow us to keep all the stories we’ve published online indefinitely, and make it that much easier to resume publication if & when it’s feasible.
