We also celebrated the awardees from the FIRN Women Conference: Danielle Kent for best paper and Susan Thorpe for best discussant @Sydney_Uni @sydney_business .
What amazing breakfasts we had for ECRs with Xavier Giroud and Caroline Flammer and for Women with Caroline Flammer. @AngelZhong17 and Andrea Lu facilitated great conversations on a wide variety of topics. Biggest lesson: follow your passion, know your goal and stick to it.

Many Aussies on here seem to think tertiary education should be free, because of some combination of:
1. It used to be free.
2. There are social benefits.
Both are bad arguments. (1/N)

The hometown of my colleague (Diego García) was devastated this past week with the flooding as you might have heard on the news. The whole town is facing an unimaginable loss.
Apparently, 95% of the town lost their cars.
They set up a GoFundMe to help.

Great summary by John, as usual! This is not looking good for academic jobs, in a year with a lot of JM candidates coming from post-pandemic delays/postponements and post docs. It's what I feared from my casual observation of FEN and ERN posts! Good luck candidates!

Per capita wage growth is not a useful thing. Try real disposable income per capita instead. It's up.
