Our lab (thefinnlab.github.io) is excited to review PhD applications this cycle! Check us out if you wanna do interesting stuff with brains and behavior in the woods 🌲🧠🌲Apply to Dartmouth Psych&Brain Sciences via Guarini Grad School (graduate.dartmouth.edu/admis…...) by Dec 1!
Only a few more days until we begin reviewing applications for this search -- please apply!!
We're hiring! @DartmouthPBS is searching for a new full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor studying social interaction. We're open to a wide variety of methods and perspectives. Review of applications starts Oct 15. Details here: apply.interfolio.com/151749
Happening now!! #sfn2024
If you're still at #sfn2024 tomorrow (Weds) am, check out @FINNLab_neuro members Clara Sava-Segal @csavasegal and Kay Liang @qiliang_kay in the nanosymposium Neural Bases of Human Social Cognition and Connection! Great speaker lineup!

Thx for discussing! Zooming out tho, what's the ultimate goal of brain-based identification? No matter how good it gets, we'll likely always have better ways to ID people (eg DNA, actual fingerprints). Behavior prediction is more interesting/important IMO: doi.org/10.1016/j.neuroimage…

Social psych friends: do you know of--or have and are willing to share--any dataset(s) of open-ended conversations with survey outcome measures (e.g., enjoyment, connectedness)? Dyads preferred, but >2 speakers also fine. Like the 🔥 CANDOR dataset (even if smaller). Thanks!!
Proud to have the entire @FINNLab_neuro at #CCN2024! Here's where you can catch us:
First up, Katie O'Nell @katieoneuro has a talk in tomorrow morning's session (Thurs 9:30am) about a new way to quantify what makes conversation good (hint: think pink 🩷🎀💅)
#CCN2024 Also on Friday, Zishan Su, @Rekha_Va, @qiliang_kay, and @Eshjolly debut some results from our new paradigm to parameterize how people vary in whether they perceive a social interaction -- and if so, what type of social interaction they perceive: 2024.ccneuro.org/pdf/364_Pap…
#CCN2024 Finally, also in the Friday poster session, I will do my best to present work led by @tommy_botch on divergences between humans and LLMs in a next-word prediction task and what they might mean: 2024.ccneuro.org/pdf/485_Pap…
Looking forward to catching up with everyone!

It was such a great symposium on naturalistic imaging with @esfinn, @thelablab, Hongmi Lee, Asirh Zadbood, together with @SadiaShakil4 at #OHBM2024
Happening in 15min! #OHBM2024
Replying to @esfinn
Lastly, I'm part of a symposium, "Advances toward a more naturalistic neuroscience of human memory and emotion", Tues 9-10:15am (Grand Ballroom 103) w fabulous lineup @thelablab, Hongmi Lee, Asieh Zadbood, @adeelrazi, and Sadia Shakil. Can't wait to see everyone!

Happening today/tomorrow!
Replying to @esfinn
Next, check out @csavasegal's poster, #0964 Mon/Tues: "Multivariate neural pattern changes reflect within-subject shifts in subjective interpretations". Clara has some very cool new data showing what happens in the brain when we start to "see" an ambiguous stimulus in a new way

How much do we really understand about how the brain processes movies/stories? Come to poster #0948 today/tomorrow at #OHBM2024! With @esfinn and our all-star collaborators @HayoungSong5, @headspace_lab, and @monicarosenb
Finally in Seoul for #OHBM2024!! Here's a 🧵with what @FINNLab_neuro is up to. First, I'm super excited and honored to be giving a keynote talk, "Imaging subjective experience", Monday at 10:30am (Hall D 2)
And @tommy_botch's poster, #0948 Mon/Tues: "Naturalistic 'dark matter': Intersubject correlations persist after regressing stimulus features" w dreamteam @HayoungSong5 @headspace_lab @monicarosenb. What's left in movie/story fMRI data when we model out everything we can think of?
Lastly, I'm part of a symposium, "Advances toward a more naturalistic neuroscience of human memory and emotion", Tues 9-10:15am (Grand Ballroom 103) w fabulous lineup @thelablab, Hongmi Lee, Asieh Zadbood, @adeelrazi, and Sadia Shakil. Can't wait to see everyone!
