Visiting with my engineering team in South Florida again this week. It seems that the weather here is about the same as it is at home, little bit of sun peeking out, then the clouds followed by the thunder and rain…. Either way, I’m here working on a roadmap for the future! Exciting times 👍

I’m attending the SIA GovSummit 2026, an outstanding event bringing together government and industry leaders to discuss the evolving landscape of security, identity, and access control. A sincere thank you to @SIAonline for organizing such a well-curated program that continues to push critical conversations forward across federal, state, and local security domains.
Some of the key sessions I attended reinforced just how quickly the industry is evolving:
~The Future of Federal Identity – Continued momentum toward extending FIPS‑201 beyond the traditional card, with a clear shift toward digital-first identity models.
~Federal Credentials with Aliro Mobile Protocol – New dialogue emerging around open, interoperable mobile credential standards to reduce fragmentation and lifecycle complexity while improving user experience.
~Derived Credential PACS – Ongoing discussion around how derived credentials can be more effectively leveraged within PACS environments to support modern authentication models.
~From Fragmentation to Alignment: Navigating OSDP – Updates to standardization at the reader and device layer remains critical for achieving scalable, secure interoperability aligned with HSPD‑12 requirements.
~Future-Proofing Identity Credentials Against Quantum Computing – Increasing urgency around cryptographic agility and preparing federal systems for post-quantum security requirements.
~TSA DHS TWIC Card 2026 – Continued evolution of TWIC as a biometric, cryptographic credential, with a focus on stronger cryptography and next-generation platforms.
Implementing New School Security Standards – Important perspective on translating policy and research into actionable security implementation across public sector environments. Across these sessions, a few consistent themes stood out:
~A clear transition from card-centric to identity-centric architectures.
~Acceleration toward mobile and derived credentials within a FICAM-aligned framework.
~The importance of developing and adopting modernized standards for the purpose of reducing operation and logistical friction.
~Growing emphasis on cryptographic modernization and resilience in response to looming threats.
Events like GovSummit reinforce the importance of collaboration between government stakeholders and industry to ensure that innovation remains aligned with evolving federal standards and mission requirements.
Appreciate the opportunity to participate, connect with peers, and gain valuable insights into where the future of government security is headed.

If you’re attending SIA GovSummit, I’d love to meet and chat with you about the future of HID Government Solutions.
A few weeks ago I found myself pausing mid-scroll on LinkedIn, struck by yet another post framing ADHD as a productivity hurdle to “overcome.” Curious about a more nuanced perspective, I picked up ADHD 2.0. What I discovered was far more than another clinical manual—it is an invitation to reimagine a familiar trait as a source of distinctive strength.
Dr. Hallowell, who has long championed a positive view of ADHD, returns with fresh neuroscience and practical wisdom. The book updates the groundbreaking ideas from Driven to Distraction for a post-pandemic, always-on world. Rather than cataloging deficits, the authors spotlight the very wiring that can make ADHD individuals exceptionally creative, resilient, and visionary - qualities I’ve seen firsthand in high-performing colleagues who can hyper-focus on complex problems while others stall.
What lingered with me most is the central reframing: ADHD is not a disorder to suppress, but a difference to steward. The authors argue that when properly understood and supported - through connection, exercise, nutrition, medication when needed, and deliberate environmental design - this “difference” becomes a genuine superpower. I found myself reflecting on moments in my own career where an ADHD colleague’s rapid pattern recognition or out-of-the-box thinking turned a stalled project into an innovative breakthrough. Those strengths are real, yet they are often overshadowed by the very real challenges of distractibility and emotional dysregulation.
Hallowell’s tone is refreshingly optimistic without being unrealistic. He offers concrete, evidence-based strategies that feel actionable for professionals: building “interest-based” attention systems, creating “body-first” routines, and cultivating environments that reward rather than punish neurodivergent thinking. The science is current (including insights on dopamine regulation and the role of lifestyle in brain plasticity), yet the writing remains warmly human and deeply empathetic.
For anyone who lives with ADHD, leads neurodiverse teams, or simply wants to understand how different brains can drive organizational advantage, ADHD 2.0 is a timely and encouraging read. It left me more curious than ever about how we can move beyond accommodation toward genuine appreciation of cognitive diversity in the workplace.
Highly recommended. If you’ve read it, I’d love to hear which insight resonated most with you.
Thrilled to announce that I've joined HID Global as Senior Product Manager, Government Solutions!
