same team, same standards, same open source commitment, now with S&P Global's institutional reach behind us 🫡
Today we are announcing that S&P Global has entered an agreement to acquire OpenZeppelin. Onchain finance is growing from an emerging market into core financial infrastructure, and the standards and rails our team and community built are becoming the rails of global finance. OpenZeppelin smart contracts facilitated over $37 trillion in value transferred, with the vast majority of the largest DeFi protocols, blockchain networks, stablecoins and tokenized funds relying on them. With S&P Global, we expect to accelerate the impact of onchain finance, backed by more than a century of trust in global markets, benchmarks, and risk frameworks. To our clients and to all the users of OpenZeppelin open source tools: • OpenZeppelin Contracts and all our open source applications and tools remain open source, free, and publicly maintained on GitHub. Building open source standards stays a core priority. • Audits, engineering work, and ecosystem programs continue with the same team, brand, quality, and customer experience, with what will be the added benefit of S&P Global's research capacity, market data, and institutional reach. For the last decade, OpenZeppelin has set the security standard for onchain finance. Today begins a new chapter for that mission, together with one of the most trusted names in global markets. funny (not so) times ahead
Jacob is correct here—we really do earnestly believe AI could kill all humans! I personally think it is >10% within the next decade. I believe Anthropic is trying its best, but we do not yet have a plan to solve alignment for superintelligence and are not clearly on track to.

The single biggest productivity improvement I've made this year as an engineer is talking to agents instead of typing.

I don't really want to change jobs, but man I really want to see how technical interviewers are checking AI skills. I might apply to some positions just because.

If you've interviewed recently, what did they ask and how did they test your AI skillls?

I'm very happy to have reached a point in my life where I keep coming up with ideas that feel interesting, non-obvious, and worth pursuing. Then I spend five minutes researching one and find at least five companies already building the same thing. Crazy times.

Has anyone else tired of GitHub going down tried this origin beta alternative by @cursor_ai ? Is worth trying already?

Read this if you still don't understand why stablecoins are so great for financial institutions, and ultimately, for you.

We're working more, not less, now that we have agents, because we can focus on the fun parts, and that replaced a lot of the time we used to spend on pure entertainment.

If you are not working more than before now that you have AI, you are probably not that passionate about what you do.

Ayer vi el que es con diferencia el mejor show en vivo que he visto en mi vida. De esas cosas tan superiores que tienes que hacer alguna vez en la vida, como ir a Tokio. El Sueño de Toledo en Puy du Fou.

AI should let you take a 90% solution that once took a week and push it to 99% in two days. Instead, I see a lot of people work five things and ship each at 70%. Please use AI to raise the bar, not lower it faster.

I bet you haven't seen a self-reference paradox in a while.

Lately, many friends from my CS major days, now around 30, tell me they're bored with coding. Most of them are excited that AI enables solving problems at a higher level, beyond software. Others are just focusing on hobbies and keep coding because it pays.

What a ride this World Cup was. Happy that Spain won at the end. Well deserved. We will miss you Lionel.

If you think you don’t need to go the extra mile to optimize how you use AI as an engineer, remember this: even when the ball is perfect, Messi still gets paid to kick it, and you don’t. AI will be no different. The people who learn to use it better will get paid, and you won’t.

There is a lot of noise around this “optimizing” how you use AI. Part of the job is separating what actually works from what doesn’t.
