I feel like society collectively forgets how crazy it is that the most powerful military in the world is led by a former Fox News weekend host with no significant management experience who never held a high-ranking military command

“I am not sure being a reserve currency is good for the US” Proceeds to say a bunch of things that are frickin awesome about being the reserve currency
JD Vance wants to end the US dollar's position as a global reserve currency, because he thinks it allows Americans to consume too much and do so too cheaply. Keep that in mind the next time you order a $20 burrito on door dash.

I helped pass this law in 2020. It's purpose is to prevent drug traffickers, Russian & Chinese kleptocrats, and other international criminals from setting up anonymously owned companies to hide their money in the US. Trump's Treasury Dept. is doing this to help criminals. 1/
Today, @FinCENnews issued a final rule that permanently removes the requirement for U.S. companies and U.S. persons to report beneficial ownership information. FinCEN today also announced that it will delete previously reported information by U.S. persons from the beneficial ownership information database.

I’m hiring a Chief of Staff who’s as obsessed with the inception stage of a company as we are at @firstround . The earliest days of company-building require a crazy work ethic and irrational tolerance for delayed gratification. The work we do at First Round is in service of founders in this phase, and we try to embody that same ethos. In venture, much like in startups, remarkable outcomes are powered by thousands of small, consistent inputs. A lot of the work that goes into the Chief of Staff role is unglamorous work — inbox triaging, late nights drafting investment memos, testing new automations or workflows for our partners. The role also gives you the closest seat there is to see the work it takes to lay the foundation of great companies, and you’ll get to shape how First Round shows up to support exceptional founders.

And how much value, in the form of jobs and wages and productivity, did Brin create with Google? Not to mention, he and his family fled to the US from the USSR, where we learned quite enough about what redistribution really means: shared repression and immiseration.
Sergey Brin is worth $276 billion. He could save healthcare for 3 million people. Instead, he’s spending $82 million against California’s 5% billionaire wealth tax. He’d rather see low-income Americans die & suffer than pay his fair share of taxes. That is a moral obscenity.

Economists have done such a poor job explaining free-market capitalism that we're now re-litigating it with a generation taught socialism is preferable. It's like the medical profession having to convince people bloodletting isn't good medicine and to stop asking for leeches

Occasionally I’ll read something so idiotic only to realize I’ve been forced into the For You feed. It’s so bad. It’s insulting. It’s disgusting and pathetic. It makes me feel ashamed for being on this dogshit app. Honestly impressive how bad it is. Terrible, terrible product

Obscene thing to say. If you must, say, “I’m sorry but Ukraine is not our problem; we have bigger issues to deal with; Europe should step up”. But to say you’re proud of starving a country of help in the face of lethal aggression? Just don’t understand this man’s morality.
JD Vance: Stopping funding for Ukraine is one of the things I’m proudest we’ve done in this administration.

No matter what you think about what Anthropic did or didn't do, this is the wrong way to deal with it
CNBC: But naming Anthropic a supply chain threat means that no one who is a contractor to the US government can work with them either BESSENT: This is very bad behavior on their part

This is the interview Donald Trump didn’t want you to see. His FCC refused to air my interview with Stephen Colbert. Trump is worried we’re about to flip Texas.

It’s important that you understand what happened last night. Last night, Stephen Colbert interviewed Democratic Texas Senate candidate James Talarico, a candidate who, by all accounts, is on track in the polls to flip Texas blue. In response, Trump’s FCC reportedly threatened CBS if the interview aired. CBS caved and pulled the segment, citing “financial reasons.” In modern American history, no president has been more hostile to free speech than Donald Trump. But censorship always backfires. Here’s the full segment Trump didn’t want you to see.

Unironically, the single easiest way to improve boys' academic performance would be posting everyone's grades on the door for all to see
They should gamify education by giving regular challenges and tests of skill and assigning points based on how you do

This is more evil than just proposing a red meat allergy. Alpha-gal syndrome can actually cause people to go into anaphylactic shock from leather, pet dander, milk and dairy products, carrageenan, cooking meat fumes and more. You can even be restricted from flying due to it!
WEF World Economic Forum Matthew Liao: We can induce 'meat allergy' by using Lone Star Ticks to stop the consumption of meat and “help the planet”

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed…unless you approach law enforcement.”
If you approach law enforcement with a gun, there is a high likelihood they will be legally justified in shooting you. Don’t do it!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The U.S. Constitution (particularly the 2nd, 4th, and 14th amendments) prohibit officers from shooting citizens merely for possessing a weapon that is not an “imminent threat”. This was reaffirmed in Graham v Connor, which says force must be reasonable. supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/… justice.gov/jm/1-16000-dep…. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitut…
