I started visiting Rwanda around 2010, when you still needed a visa to travel to Rwanda. In this picture is sports, youth and culture minister Joe Habineza, with me. He died in 2021. We would hang out whenever I was in Rwanda. Went around the city of Kigali, where people recognised him and praised him. Mr. Habineza was Rwanda’s Ambassador to Nigeria then and he would bring visa sticker to the Lagos airport from Abuja and put it on my passport and we would fly to Kigali. I volunteered at Kwetu Institute to teach. That’s a film school owned by Eric Kabera. This is where it gets interesting. I lost my luggage on RwandAir. After trying to reach Yvonne Makolo, its CEO and she told me they would not do anything, I came to Twitter to call them out. On my next trip to Rwanda, 8 men in suit came to my hotel on the day I was supposed to leave and took me in and kept me in prison for 2 weeks… Until there was an intervention from people Kagame listened to, like President Obasanjo… When he imprisoned Paul Rusesabagina, I had to work with his family to reach out to those prominent Africans who started talking to him. So, when you go to Rwanda for Formula 1 in 2030, which is years away, behave well.
