Introducing Claude Opus 5.5, the first model in our new Claude 5.5 family.
It performs at the level of Claude Fable 5.1 for most tasks, and costs 40% less to run than Opus 5.

Hello, friends! I need a little help 😅
About 6 months ago I was laid off.
The market is changing fast, priorities shift, and I’m genuinely grateful for the time I spent with my previous employer. I hope they continue to succeed.
After a few months of rethinking what I wanted to do next, I realized something:
I want to build products and eventually live off them.
Hyperfocus and ACED QUEST are two of the projects you've probably seen me building in public.
My runway is now down to about 2–3 months 🫠
So, rather than giving up on that goal, I'm looking for contract, temporary, or part-time Ruby on Rails work that can help me extend the runway while I continue building.
If you need a product-minded Rails developer who uses AI to build robust solutions faster—or know someone who does—please send me a DM or leave a comment below.
And if you can't hire me but can repost this, that would help a lot too. ❤️

You need to upgrade your Rails application right away if you're using Active Storage to store files and allow uploads from untrusted users. The underlying libvips used for image processing has a severe security issue. Great work by @flavorjones to lead the response on this.
We released new security versions of Rails to address a critical security bug in Active Storage. Please upgrade your applications.

Hey it’s me, Anthropic’s #1 hater reporting in
Opus 5 is a new model trained on what they learned from Mythos. Hell, it was probably largely disrupted by Mythos.
Let’s say, hypothetically, Mythos is a big model and as a result of training, it has 100 “capabilities”. Most of them are good, but 5 of them can be bad. This happened because they weren’t working from a fixed set of capability, they were trying to squeeze in as much as possible.
Opus 5 starts from Mythos. They looked at all “100 capabilities”, said “okay we only want these 95 of them”, and then trained hard on those 95 through distillation.
Opus 5 is a much smaller model than Fable/Mythos. They effectively trimmed out the “scary” parts. The alignment benchmarks confirm they were pretty successful with that.
I see how it could look contradictory, but I don’t think it makes sense when you reason about it a bit
