Why do I think MN Governor Tim Walz would be a great VP? He gets things done. When the 2023 session closed, he signed the following in to law:
*Codified abortion rights
*Protect Reproductive Options Act (incl birth control)
*Universal school meals for all public schools
*Carbon-Free electricity (by 2040 all utility companies in MN must offer carbon-free electricity)
*One time rebate to residents (due to budget surplus)
*Transportation/Infrastructure funding
*State run Paid Family & Medical Leave for all
*Conversion therapy ban
*Trans refuge state, trans rights
*Red Flag gun law passed
*Driver’s Licenses for all (regardless of immigration status)
*Recreational Cannabis is now legal
*Voting rights act (automatic registration)
*Free tuition in MN state colleges (if family makes less than $80k per year)
*PFAS ban
*School funding indexed to inflation
*Free menstruation products in all schools
*All employers must offer earned safe and sick time for all employees

Sometimes I watch seemingly-intro-level #PowerBI content because I'm always looking for better ways to explain fundamental concepts. Love this clear defn of Data Exploration vs Data Reporting from Microsoft's Rosie Levasseur & Patryk Kowalski at @SQLBits

ALT Slide title: Terminology. Slide content: Data exploration - Analyzing data with the intent of uncovering insights or increasing familiarity with a dataset. Can also include saving or sharing insights with others but is not required. Data reporting - Building a data presentation with the intent to distribute or present to others.

Now that @RonDeSantis is done w the RNC, I hope he personally tests what he signed into law back in April. Great week to work outside all day, every day, & see how important water breaks and cooling measures truly are. Lots of heat & humidity, sun is at full flame thrower status!

I am profoundly grateful for President Joe Biden's years of dedicated service. His decision today to step down and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris as the next presidential nominee is not only appropriate but essential.
This is not about the other candidate for President. You can't compare where you don't compete. Vice President Harris's extensive experience as District Attorney, Attorney General, U.S. Senator, and Vice President during pivotal moments in our generation underscores her deep qualifications to serve as President. She embodies the intersectionality of our nation and reflects our shared experiences. Vice President Harris is not only ready to serve our country as President, but she also possesses the most extensive experience to do so.
As a Democratic delegate, State House Representative, a Link and Sister Greek, and a Black Queer woman in America, I am energized and fully committed to supporting Vice President Kamala Devi Harris.
My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.

I need people to remember that a black man won the popular vote twice and a woman won the popular vote once but lost bc (among other things) of electoral college/bad strategy. Do not let people say this country won’t vote for a woman. The majority of voters literally did lol.
This article came at precisely the right time for me, these are critical concepts for #PowerBI authors that are getting beyond the basic SUM/AVERAGE/YTD measures.
This article clarifies how DAX evaluates variables, which is important to avoid common mistakes when using DAX for the first time - and it is a good rehearsal if you do not use DAX every day!

Who wants to help me untangle some #PowerBI #MicrosoftFabric licensing questions? I know, I know, licensing questions are about as fun as a root canal but I always feel like my mental pointers are stale when it comes to Premium/F sku's. reddit.com/r/MicrosoftFabric…
#Fabric #PowerBI admins, if you haven't checked out the Feature Usage & Adoption report lately give it a spin. Has proven invaluable to me for digging into usage in past 30 days w zero effort in my new job. Love these improvements from the @MSPowerBI team! learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fa…

Today Disney filed a lawsuit against Governor Ron DeSantis over control of its Florida Resort. The company claimed “a targeted campaign of government retaliation” which it said stemmed from its criticism of a contentious state education law.
Below is our statement in response:
ALT “It really does take a terrible Governor for someone like me to express support for a corporation but it’s been such a circus to watch DeSantis continue to target and demonize the Walt Disney World Company because they expressed an opinion he did not like and stopped giving him campaign contributions. This has clearly been a pattern of punitive and petty behavior by Governor DeSantis that has exposed his inability to lead alongside his extreme policy positions. I wish Disney luck in their litigation and ask that the Governor let it go.”

Here’s the really tricky part.
But i was paying attention.
Would you say, Mr Rattner, that you agree hindered communication and collaboration weakened SVB?
Mr Rattner - that was a *management* problem. Not a labor problem.
i was paying attention, you jackass.

I am gravely disappointed by the Biden administration’s decision to move forward with the Willow Project. Let’s be clear: the clock is ticking on real and lasting reforms to save our planet. The administration has made historic strides to address the climate crisis; but we cannot afford to take even a half-step backwards. Unfortunately, the Willow Project is more than that. It will take us the wrong direction in our efforts to fight climate change.
The climate crisis deserves urgent action. We owe it to our children, our grandchildren, future generations, and our planet to do everything we can now to address climate change.
I urge the President to reverse course, keeping his promise to the millions of climate voters and to the world which is pleading for climate action.
