JUPITER HELL DOUBLE RELEASE!
Jupiter Hell 1.9 "Heavy" is out, new Heavy Gunner class, new traits, perk upgrades, buffs and more!

Jupiter Hell Classic 0.11 "Terminal" is out too, with the Warden boss, bots, terminals and Hacking!

The majority of the criticism of Jupiter Hell Classic and Jupiter Hell that I've received over the past 3 years is "Why do you waste time on JH/JHC if JHC/JH is so clearly better?". In both configurations.
How am I supposed to address that? :P
Imagine someone coming to an established open source project and dropping a huge PR with tons of features, badly tested, not following project guidelines, some features not working at all-and expecting maintainers to fix it and merge it.
That's how mathematicians feel right now.
With all due respect, but the fact that OpenAI commits to shipping 28 features in a month while their desktop tool gets me 12 errored out conversations (3 different errors) within 6 hours of work perfectly sums up where software is heading now.
This created game looks so exciting I just can't wait to ignore thousands of them!
Introducing Unity Spark — a new way to create a game, iterate on it with others, publish it, and play it - all without writing a line of code.
You'll build with artist-created assets from the Unity Asset Store, and then you can take your game to the next level by refining it in a new web-based editor.
Prompt it. Perfect it. Publish it. Inspired games, with artist-created assets, built on Unity.
Closed beta coming soon.
Math is awesome for showing AI research prowess - there's a lot of tasks that nobody cares about that are mechanically solvable and have no practical use whatsoever.
Hot take - it's not "this model is too dangerous to deploy". It's "most "secure" websites are to vulnerable to be allowed to operate".
Interesting move, OpenAI.
This is the first major event where prices went up (20x plan became 10x plan for the same price) and the consumer was offered to pay much more (500 USD) for less (25x).
Are we at a turning point?
Actually I did notice. Anyone else notice enshitification? The end user more and more is supposed to accept bugs, crashes, etc as normal when running software...
And it will get worse. Even now I see a Windows 11 compositor crash every few days or so on 2 different machines.
When you see AI companies cutting the costs of their products despite the fact that neither are profitable yet, that is telling.
The hero we didn't know we needed, the hero we deserved.
Mod of the year definitely goes to @IKEA :P youtube.com/watch?v=lwdeKwvs…

One way to get great training data ?
So many non-programming people will now learn that you shouldn't take that "almost finished" game jam prototype and try to make a finished game out of it.
If AI ever truly "solves" software engineering, it will have solved most non-physical jobs first. Cheering for coders to get replaced is a bit like cheering for the iceberg because you dislike the people standing at the bow.
If the teased StarCraft game at BlizzCon turns out to be a mobile game, that will be the final nail in the "legendary Blizzard" coffin, and final confirmation that they lost all contact with their audience.

OMFG someone ripped off my (decade old) game using AI and is now selling it on Steam.
They ripped the same mechanics, level design, UI, even some sprites.
The store description is AI slop.
The main character is a bomberman sprite???
WTF IS GOING ON @valvesoftware
"But you have the "Traditonal Roguelike" tag on steam, so stop whining!"
Well...
(hint: only one of these is a trad roguelike)
