Reading The Real Cost of Distraction by @petershankman first thing in the morning has me thinking about whether I have a place where I can focus distraction free. Well outside of my production studio where the work happens. I've heard this concept before of different spaces for different parts of work. There are times after hours of work where I need to be in a different space. But there isn't anyone particular space that fills that need. It might be the sun room or the living room or the dining room or even the kitchen. I just need to be in a different room than my production studio. It's like a break from the same more than anything else. I need a different energy to relax or in same cases revive my energy. So, not quite the same thing. I'm going to ponder this a bit and make an effort to be intentional about what different spaces offer me. petershankmanofficial.substa…

Today is a federal holiday which means no mail and banks are closed. It also means that most folks aren't working today. And that means less meetings and calls. It's been a nice quiet day. Getting things done. This is the kind of Monday that kicks off a great week.

Running late in a meeting.

Alarm went of early. Slowly got up. Made coffee. Didn't feel like a full on breakfast so I ate some crackers and cheese. Then I sat at my computer and stared blankly at the screen. Okay, maybe a word search or crossword puzzle would get the synapsis firing. Um....sort of. Then I remembered @brainfmapp and put on one of my favorite focus tracks. my.brain.fm/intentions/share… Feeling the cobwebs being cleared away.

You know what you need to do. So go do it.

Today has not gone according to plan and I’m not unhappy about it. Sometimes the unexpected is exactly what’s needed.

This morning I thought it was Monday. What a relief to discover it was still the weekend.

We hear rain is coming. In an area plagued by years of drought, I am beyond pleased at the prospect. Even so, I also know the phrase “Turn around, don’t drown” exists for a reason. When the rain begins. Use common sense. Stay home. Make alternative plans. If you have to be out on the roads, be mindful of all the roads YOU ALREADY KNOW flood every time it rains. These low water crossings are not an unknown. Find alternative routes. Don’t think, “Oh, I can make it”. DO NOT EVEN ATTEMPT A WATER CROSSING. DO. NOT. DO. IT. Seriously people. Nothing is worth your life. Reschedule and reroute. Save yourself and your family the grief.
