#MagicaCSG Demo Version: a nondestructive SDF editor and renderer.

maybe the post referred to sdf modeling directly by codes like what iq did. For general sdf modeling, artists can make brilliant models with intuitive sdf toolset as well.
Replying to @keenanisalive
In fact, I'm pretty sure the only person in the world who can build models like this by hand is @iquilezles. My AI-assisted process borrows (and outright steals) from his work.
In that spirit, I dub the model “Inigo the Dragon”: cs.cmu.edu/~kmcrane/Projects…
Sorry @iquilezles! [3/n]

The sight of this divine carving has lived with me since I was very young, and only now have I had the courage and tools to make it myself. This Chozo is a combination of how I remember him, and a few other designs.

so is it useless? maybe no. it may help correct anatomy and proportion mistakes, prototyping light/color placement, just as image and manikin references. the difference is that it can contain fake ref and may easily affect choices of art directions, which needs to be avoided
maybe the market considers the art is the fruit, but the art is the tree raised from the seed, growing up from the root. the generator mashes the hand placed strokes, structure studying, thinking process, mood and feeling all into latent space, which misses a lot there
so after all, do you“own” the outputs of a generator? maybe 50/50. it definitely matches more to the imagination from your brain than simple text prompts, but it changes details, art styles, shading, nothing from your own analysis and knowledge, and those are the value of art
for curiosity, I throw some of my novice sketches into some dated(?) oss image generators, the results are kind of interesting...there are some thoughts and options about the process which require a thread of posts, so for now just leave some comparison here...(1/3)
